Mostly men on that list. Not sure what the criteria is for this list (again Nirvana rolleyes)

WHere is Bjork or Madonna. Surely their music has been more influential or as influential (certainly have MORE material) than Michael Jackson (sorry he's overratted too).

James Brown should be a little higher than where he is too.

eek Do we actually agree on something? I feel the same way about them. Never understood how they rank so high in ALL lists yet having a very small catalog. I have similar issues with Jimi and Janis as well, but not as much.

Who did this one? Is this from a poll?

And man, even if we're talking pop artists, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Louis Jordan, Louis Prima, Rosemary Clooney, et al. are gonna be mighty steamed.

And that's assuming this poll isn't supposed to include classical, jazz, blues and soul artists.

First of all, get Pink Floyd out of there, and please enough with Nirvana already. I saw a poll the other day and Cobain ranked higher than John Lennon? Next INXS goes over U2 anyday, I love U2, but they were followers of Inxs experiments and Bono knows that. Not only is James Brown and SLy way too low, where the hell is Elton John, you can take out Velvet Underground and Van Morrison, theyre good but top 40 all time, sorry.

Yes but U2 preservered longer and IMO created better music. Just because they followed the INXS path doesn't make INXS better.

Well, it's just silly.

I like most of these artists, but REM & Public Enemy over James Brown?

I have no problem with their choices, but the order is what's bound to cause the most arguments.
