Luv 4 Amerie, some really strange things going on with Matthew Knowles and Rich Harrison

Well just caught some of an interview with Amerie, who I love, and mostly the interviewer was bating her into saying something bad about any other RB females, but of course she is mature unlike the interviewer or the magazine. But when she was talking i realized that there are alot of shady things going on with her former producer and Mr.Knowles. Now in case you all dont know, a few years back Rich Harrison and Amerie put together "1 thing" and "Talkin Bout" two very fresh sounding tracks at the time in the RB climate. Well Rich took them to Sony and they were turned down, the reason being was that Sony wanted a full album not 2 tracks, but AMerie at the time wasnt finished fully, so rather than rush the rest of the tracks they sat on them, and leaked them underground, clubs, mixtapes etc.. Well somehow these tracks got back to Mr. Knowles, possibly from Sony execs, who suggested a change of sound for Beyonce, Boom, there came " Crazy in Love" and then when Ameries "1 thing" was released after, she mainly looked like a follower, despite doing the track first and having a hand in alot of the sound. To this day i thought there was some sort of problem between Amerie and Beyonce but its not the case, the too have actually recently worked together, however, though Amerie doesnt state it, there is an issue with Producer Rich Harrison, who may have "lifted" her sound and given it too Beyonce for a bigger payday, which is why Mr. Harrison is gone from Ameries new cd and any tracks he did with her. Amerie's new cd will be out Jan/Feb and she has been leaking tracks all over the place on Mix tapes, and one song is said to be a "Green Light" sounding song, as a shot at Mr. Harrison. But dont think you will catch Amerie talking trash in interviews, she is approaching 30 now and she doesnt roll like that she says, life's too short and "Beefs" are immature and stupid.

I think its also a testament of how Producers are working right now, basically whoever writes the bigger paycheck gets the "beats", even if it means "stealing" someones work, which is the case, since Amerie did write and co-produce those tracks.

How fucked is that? I downloaded "Take Control" and put it on a mix. My friend heard it and said "She sounds like Beyonce"

Well get used to it, when the CD comes out thats all anyone is going to say. But Amerie is a little too "nice" to just say i got ripped off, i think she realizes that kind of talk will end up hurting her more than anything, so she knows the real deal, as do the Harrison-Knowles duo.

Sony is a piece of shit. They did that to Mariah with J to L.O.

So that's why it was easy for Dr.Dre to forget about The Game. 50 Cent can write a bigger check (including drug money). hmmm

Remember how Rich Harrison sold J-Lo that beat that would become "Get Right" when Usher had co-wrote a song over the same beat.

Says a bit about Rich Harrison's "loyalty" (but as if loyalty comes back to reward any producer who mainly sells cookie cutter beats to pop stars - can you really blame him?)

Amerie is a very sweet person. Sometimes too sweet for the music industry it seems but I think she’s a bit tougher than she may appear.

I also heard her just a few weeks ago in an interview and it seemed very similar to what you described about being baited into talking about—well specifically Beyonce. She said she has no beef with Beyonce but a lot of people seem to think so. The interviewer said that some people think that Beyonce stole some of her Amerie-isms especially on B’Day.
Amerie basically said I don’t think she stole them. People that know me know what I do and what I sound like. She then went on to sing Lose Control flawlessly.

It didn’t sound like she had beef with Rich and I think they may work together in the future but right now they’re apart and probably more for the reasons you described. Anyway, her mix tape is hot.

This is one reason why i am anti beyonce. It just seems that daddy knowles had
his little girl's best interest and flicked off other girls in the group unless
they were willing to play second or third banana to beyonce. That is why farrah
franklin left too. Daddy knowles supposedly had glenn lewis signed to the label
but strangely enough it has been over two years and nothing has been released
yet. I'll agree that beyonce is a talented young lady but her material just
doesn't make me say wow but the topic of this thread does not surprise me.

From the looks of that Vibe interview she did she doesn't appear very sweet at all but instead very demanding...

The interview im talking about is from an issue of XXL, its actually a special issue called Hip Hop Soul and has Usher on the cover. I mainly got it for the Mya interview included, but was surprised when Amerie was also in there. Its funny how both Mya and AMerie are in this magazine, all they needed was Christina Milian and they could have the trio of ladies who have been screwed by labels, producers, and so called divas. This is not a slight to Beyonce and her talent at all, because i do like Beyonce. But to me Amerie and Mya also are two people who seem to be in control of what they are doing, sure their "commercial" success is no where near Beyonce's, but then again, who's is. When i listen to Amerie or Mya i get the feeling that its them in their work, when i listen to Beyonce i feel like im being sold someone, someone else is pulling the strings and everything seems a little too put together.

To further the Sony/Knowles issue. After Amerie had her Top 10 success with "1 thing" she wanted "Touch" released right away, even while "1 thing" was still climbing, you have to remember that "1 thing" was already a year old when it was released to radio/video. But sony stalled on "Touch" holding it back a month after "1 things" peak and fall, this led to "Touch" as a single not coming close to "1 thing" chart success. So after that Amerie was ready for a third single which was to be "Talkin Bout" which was another Harrison/Amerie production, and was what "Freakum Dress" became. "Talkin Bout" was the best track, and Amerie knew it, performing it everywhere, but then all of a sudden Sony pulled the $$ for promotion on Amerie's album, so "Talkin Bout" which was set to have a video like no other, got shelved, the single never was released and the video didnt happen, I wonder why? Someone didnt want "Talkin Bout" to be heard as a single.

That sucks. I liked Talkin' Bout. Actually I always kinda wondered what happened with the Touch album. I didn't like it as much as All I Have but there were some cuts on there including Rolling Down My Face. That had buzz before the album even dropped. Oh well.

I play her mix tape quite a bit when I'm driving. It's like she said brushed of the Touch debacle and pressed on and Lose Control has turned out to be a hit for her. This is the first time I've heard of a non-rap mixtape but maybe there've been others? The lyrics to Push It tell alot.

Yeah actually in the interview they tell her that she has done the first Non-Rap mix tape and she was surprised and even said "No one did this before" im betting she was being little sarcastic with that. And the funny thing is that BET isnt even playing the video at all, i think it was on once, i had to see it on YouTube, so nothing has changed really.

That's pretty cool. In my region (NY), they play it all the time but even when it first dropped I kept hearing how hot the whole tape was. Then to go on and have an actual single and video... whoa. I'll have to check out the video on You Tube.

Yea, here she is addressing it w/ SOHH:

"People thought I was focusing on Beyonce for [no] reason," Amerie told SOHH exclusively. "I am used to people comparing us, especially when I am overseas. Beyonce and I have very different sounds. I actually don't think our music is alike. But we are both young, female and we dance and we sing. In that, we are kind of in the same group but I don't know why everyone thought I was talking about her because I wasn't. People have been asking me to come on the radio to address it, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. I was just having fun on the track. Please clear that up. I wasn't talking about Beyonce."

Beyonce teamed with Harrison, Amerie's longtime collaborator, for her single "Crazy In Love," from her solo debut, for which Harrison won a Grammy. The two also worked together on her most recent CD, B'day. Harrison also collaborated with Jennifer Lopez on "Get Right" before releasing his hit with Amerie, "1 Thing," the singer's most successful single to date.

You forgot to add 3 hot chicks who can't sing. The track on that new Amerie song is catchy, but as soon as her "voice" kicks in...gotta change the station. Same thing with "1 thing".

She sure is purty, though razz

Gotta disagree. Though im not saying they are amazing powerful vocalists, they are far from being bad singers, the one that has grown the most is MYA, and on the new album people will hear how you properly sing without "oversinging" which is the new way in town. The funny thing is when Aaliyah came out everyone said she was a horrible singer but then years later no one said that, and then of course after she died, everyone praised her voice.

Beyonce had the girls replaced without their knowledge instead of discussing the issue they were having with their manager (her father). She then preceeded to belittle them and pretty much called them expendable dead weight. These girls had been performing together since grade school and all of a sudden they're tone-deaf, bad dancing trouble makers? Please
