Hollywood, a song that has reportedly undergone countless revisions and overhauls over the years, actually originates from the late 1990s. Madonna wrote the track on her own and then sought creative input from her collaborators to polish the song up, the goal being to get it released on the "Music" LP. Early incarnations of the track may have featured input from Guy Sigsworth, but not until Mirwais came into the recording sessions did the song start taking serious shape. Madonna's original acoustic demos were scrapped and the melody completely reworked; the backing music is said to be less guitar and more along the lines of "Impressive Instant." Neither she nor Ahmadzai liked the result, and the song was scrapped. It was picked up in the Spring of 2002 during the "American Life" recording sessions, where it underwent a couple more revisions before ultimately finding home on that album and becoming its second single

Another American Life track that originates from the Music sessions is "Intervention." Then titled Love Will Change Us Forever, the song was written late in the game, perhaps too late to warrant consideration for being on said record (this may be substantiated by reports that the song is about her son Rocco, whom wasn't even born until a month before Music was released). Mirwais restructured the original track and gave it more of a 'stiff' sound to better reflect the mood of American Life. It is unlikely the original version is that much different from the released one.

I was only stating what I thought was the truth. But the wikipedia is not always the most reliable source of info.
But I wouldn't find it strange if they are reworked version of earlier songs. Madonna is known to do that. An example is Secret, Inside of Me or even X-static process.

As much as I like Music...I have to say a resounding NO to it being the best album of the decade.
The songs are too uneven and simplistic. Coming off of Ray of Light, the album should have been better Lyrically and Musically and it wasn't. Some of the songs...sure they are great, but Music as a whole, not her best efforts. Even the title itself suggests not a lot of effort went into the "thinking" behind the album. with American Life. it feels like half the disc is extremely good and very well done, yet the other half is generic songs that copy past hits (like the song that is just Beautiful Stranger Pt II etc). if you'd mix those two albums together you could come up with one very tight disc. anywayz, people will dislike me bringing this up again since it's like most madonna fans think its not cool anymore to state it but i just think that Ray of Light is her best attempt at electro. it's a perfect balance between techno/ambient/electro and a more personal and balanced lyrical theme. the album flows really well and hardly ever sets a foot wrong. to me, albums like Music and American Life try to take that feel and push it further. and imo they both fail on that account. the feeling they give me is one of cold contemporary dance, with the exception of a handfull of great, warm tunes. neither one reaches the intimate warmth and glow of Ray of Light in either the musical surroundings or the lyrical approach. ramble ramble ramble what i meant to say is that i think Music is a cool album but not album of the decade. not even if it is just conserning madonna's own output. sorry, rant done now [Edited 12/20/06 4:39am] Perfectly said. I feel the same way with those albums. Interestingly the lyrical content was stepped up a notch, but the music on 1/2 was just awful. Christian Zombie Vampires

what makes Music an even album is the fact tha Mirwais and William both produced it (with guy in the middle).
Their styles are very diferent, even tough some Orbit tracks have that acoustic feel

Certainly less pop-oriented (lyricall) than her prior albums and certainly more substance that "I like to Rhumba Rhumba Rhumba to a Samba Samba Samba" But lets face it...Madge is not the best when it comes to Lyrics. I just felt she was going from substance to fluff. [Edited 12/20/06 14:56pm] Christian Zombie Vampires

I don't have the album but the song "Music" is one of the best songs I've heard this decade, along with some songs by Prince and Jamiroquai. Hell, that's about all that's been worth shit this decade. Andy is a four letter word.

great song but it didn't find it live legs until the Confessions Tour. All the performances piror to that were missing something. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Music was hot. I remember hearing that song for the first time and wondering WTF? Then the groove gets to you. I didn't like it until I heard it LOUD. Then I loved it. But, no, it's not the best album of the decade. It was the last album of hers I fully liked though.

speaking of Jamiroquai,I think their 2001 CD 'A Funk Odyssey' is the best album of this decade. They're making the best modern-day disco/dance music right now.Madonna should work with them.
