When CD burners came around, I started feeling kind of the same way about CDs that I used to feel about cassettes in the 1980s. I don't feel like I have an "official" release because it's on a format that you can record yourself. You can't record on no vinyl yourself. lol

This is why I have no time for vinyl - it is so unwieldy. I'm lazy. Okay, so I have to start this thing spinning with just the right amount of needle drop to get it to sound GREAT. And then once that fucker gets scratched, there's no going back. And then you have to buy a new needle if you are playing the fuck out of something. And you can't bring it in your car or to the gym.....

Kids today. disbelief

Once a record gets scratched, that's it. I can deal with a skip every blue moon but once you get a scratch, it plays that section over and over. However, when you think about it, CDs get stuck and scratched also. If you give them both the same care such as keeping records in their covers AND their inside covers also and keeping CDs in their cases, you won't have any problem. It is a bitch trying to find a new needle these days though.

Needles are incredibly expensive (if you want a GOOD needle lol). There is one store in my city of 300,000 that sells them and I have to go downtown with all the heroin addicts to buy it.

It is a lot harder to abuse a CD than it is vinyl. You can barely touch a vinyl before it starts sounding like crap.

I don't know anywhere in my area that even sells needles. When I ordered my turntables, I made sure to keep in mind that one day I would need new needles. I ordered two Stanton turntables in 2001 and the needles, on the internet at the time, were around $25. It was some of the cheaper needles but still expensive for me, since I grew up buying a new needle for these tabletop stereos for about two or three dollars. lol

I ordered two CD players with pitch control at the time also (this was one year when I got my income tax refund and was not in this huge credit debt I'm in now). After burning so many records onto CD, I was determined to master mixing with the pitch control on the CD players so my turntables' needles are still in pretty good shape.
