I have finally went into a new Tori-phase.



It started out as just updating my files, but you know me; before you you can say Toodles Mr Jim, you find out you miss a few b-sides here, a few remixes there.

And hey! Is that bootleg series any fun? Let's find out!



While you are looking for that you fall straight into the realisation you just have two tracks of the Storytellers episode. And hey! Didn't she do an MTV Unplugged as well?

And of course she did. So there you go, falling in love all over.

But I refuse to like her doing backing vocals to Tom Jones.



On another note; I am also re-aquinting myself with Radiiohead. This will of course make Isten very happy. With greenplastic.com and Towering Above The Rest I have been quite busy listening to loads of stuff I never heard before.

And fucking hell, Towering is FUN. I also got a list of what came from where, so that makes searching even simpler! Woohoo!

you almost got me into the whole tori movement again as well last night,
if it hadn't been for the fact that i fell asleep again at 19:00 pm, lol

i think it will be another 2 or 3 weeks before i have sorted out all my
albums on the new computer and when i finally do i will be able to sit
down and get re-aquainted with tori since i have yet to wrap my mittens
around that whole A PIANO boxset.

before the end of the year i want to make two of my own
versions for "Boys for Pele" and "Choirgirl Hotel".

i've been letting them gestate for so long now that the
idea is just about fully grown and anxious to be put to
the test.

i just need to sift through the 'new' tracks relating to
these albums coming from the piano boxset, as i already
said.

i just hope there will be snow soon.

most beautiful thing i can think of is compiling my own
pele and choirgirl over the weekend with snow outside n
hot coco (with a splash of booze).

Maybe you guys can help me?!?! In “Not the Red Baron” what does the guy in the beginning say to Tori? It really bothers me I can’t understand him.

I’ve always wondered about it too. The extent of my knowledge is that there is not actually a person talking to Tori (that we can hear) but that there is a recording of two Dutch pilots speaking (in Dutch). Tori seems to be talking to someone in the background about the recording (Tori says: “What Language?” Person who we can’t hear suggests something and then Tori says “No, Dutch.”). Has anyone managed to translate the tape or at least figure out what it is generally about?
During the recording of the CD, “Red baron” was one of those one-take tracks. They were actually testing a new mike, as an other one had broken down. Marcel and Rob were talking about technical stuff through walkie-talkies. (Are they called that where you live?) They were just discussing the sound level and the compression or something like that.

Somehow, Tori picked up the talking in her headphones and asked what language they were using. Marcel replied “Dutch”, and asked if they should stop talking. Tori motioned to them to go on, however, and Marcel asked if they should talk in English. Tori answers: “No, Dutch”, which is what you hear on the recording.

The talking does sound like pilots, but that’s just what inspired Tori to the lyrics. “Not the Red Baron” was recorded in one take.

I love "not the red baron"... it's one of my favorite Tori songs. I've always thought it was an AIDS song to a certain degree because of the reference to red ribbons, and I think it can be interpreted that way, but that doesn't appear to be her original intent. Or who knows... maybe that was part of it. Either way, gorgeous song.
