I agree. She's not the type of actress who can "carry" a film. She does much better in films where she is not the star.'Dick Tracy' and 'A League Of Their Own' are two successful films where she worked well as a team player. If she had done more smaller, supporting roles, her film career would have lasted longer.

I think 'Who's That Girl' is her best movie. It's fun and enjoyble. She seems comfortable in her role. Her voice is annoying but I think that was intentional?

"I don't know why she acted in that many films"

Madonna was in so many films for the same reason why so many rappers and other singers are in films: being "popular" in music means you get the chance to do movies.Movie producers and directors pay attention to the Billboard charts.Having a big name musical star in your film will guarantee alot of attention and big box office. In fact,Madonna's first two films ("Vision Quest" and "Despearately Seeking Susan") were clearly a result of her amazing pop success at the time.

I think that half of her movies are good and half of them are shit (a view that even she shares). But as a fan,I'm glad these movies exist.Marilyn Monroe and Elvis weren't good actors either, but I think their fans like having those movies,as bad as they are.

Yeah, her voice in Who's That Girl was intentional. Best accent I've ever heard her do

nod we finally agree on something lol

Why does no one give her props for "Dangerous Game" (aka "Snake Eyes")?

That was her best performance onscreen ever. Probably because only 6 people have seen it.

And her performance in "Swept Away" save for a couple scenes was not ahbominable. It was decent.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

'Dangerous Game' is shit lol Even SHE hates that film.It amazes me that so many fans think that movie is her "lost classic".I bought the DVD not so long ago and I could barely get through it.

Oddly,I enjoy certain scenes in 'Swept Away' even though I think it was an ill-advised project.

Didn't Woody Allen direct one of those films? I've never seen them, but I like the fact that she is playing small, supporting roles in them.I think she gets more respect when she doesn't try to "carry" a film.

Marilyn was sexy and charming in her films, but she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag.

The majority of critics disagree with you. I suggest you watch Bus Stop or The Misfits.

...or Niagara. Marilyn wasn't always good, but she was often good. Why did she even come up in this conversation? There's a reason she's a screen icon and Madonna's film career is a joke.

Elvis' movies were as cheesy and pretentious as Prince's 'Cherry Moon'.

Cheesy, maybe, but no, they were most certainly not pretentious. Elvis was not trying to do high art, with the possible exception of Change of Habit.

Yes,Elvis might have one classic movie, but give Madonna credit where it is due.

For what?

She has a handful of movies that were well-received,either by critics or by huge box office

Desperately Seeking Susan (1984)
Dick Tracy (1990)
Truth Or Dare (1991)
A League Of Their Own (1992)
Evita (1996)[/b]

The common element here is that anyone could have played these roles (I am not addressing the DOCUMENTARY you posted, since it has nothing to do with acting, and everything to do with her being Madonna for 2 hours so her adoring fans can watch). She does not distinguish herself in any way in them. She was simply NOT meant to act, and never should have attempted.

Most of Janet Jackson's movies haven't been as successful as those

I see you are trying to bring Janet in for no reason lol But "most of" WHAT movies - she's done about TWO. falloff
