Even if 20 YO was a hit, I don't think that Janet would be a huge tour draw. I saw her twice on the AFY tour, and once on the TVR tour, and all three times the arenas weren't even close to being full. Hell, when we saw her on the TVR tour, we bought tickets the night before the show and had quite a selection of tickets available. We bought crappier seats, and when we got to the show we were escorted by her people into the better seats that weren't sold.

I remember hearing reports circa AFY tour that the HBO show (The Hawaii one) didn't sell very well, and that they had to move people around so it would look like more people were there.

Besides, 20 YO is more of the same, so why wouldn't we be led to believe that the show won't be her third retread of the "janet." tour? She just has to come up with a new costume for the whimsical segment, choke up those crocodile tears for Again/Come Back to Me, and pick a member of her entourage to hide in the audience for her striptease act. Voila! Janet live 2007. I should get a cut of the profits, and be credited as her "tour director".

Personally, this is what I'm afraid of. I've seen Janet the most out of I’ve seen Janet so many times I think I’ve lost count and I wasn’t that impressed with the AFY Tour. Even though the earlier songs are great I just don’t want to hear/see them performed again. But the new stuff I’m not that crazy about so there’ll only be a handful of songs in the middle that I might really enjoy If, What About, TTWLG and a few others. Wish I could get a review before I bought tickets especially if they’re going to be expensive.

she wont sing What About, thought thatd be dope

lowkey

.bad singles choices really didnt help this cd. i like the album, i have seen alot of people call it garbage only to find out they never even listened to it. its like once it was labeled a flop the general public didnt bother to check it out.people say the superbowl is not to blame, but all i know is pre-SB janet was all over pop radio, now she cant pay to get pop spins,20 y.o is a better album than all for you, but i could do without the sosodef hiphop stuff. considering the junk thats currently on the radio there is no reason a song like 'with you' shouldnt be a hit.low album sales or not if she tours i will be there.

And sassy was saying the exact same thing about the Confessions and Drowned World tours from Madonna...which were hugely successful. So who knows?

th eproblem is Janet is too old to be acting like she does now...and the getting naked thing doesn't work for anymore. Now Mariah can fall back on her voice...Janet on the other hand.... "eh"

He albumn is horrible...you can barely even hear her sing

i agree that jermaine should not be blamed. the lines between urban/pop/dance were blurred a LONG time ago. with janet's help no less. the promotion was there (minus the MTV machine i might add; and radio is a joke) but the public is just lukewarm on her and as much as i'd like it to, doesn't seem like that will change. she has to be very creative and strategic and sadly she seems to think that means to show more T & A. it's too bad the Velvet Rope already came out, that the closest thing to the type of album she needs right now IMO.

I think Jermaine is only part of the problem.A bigger problem for Janet is,the public is tired of her sexual persona. She seems to be stuck in a creative rut.Unless she changes her sound and her image,I don't think she will have too much success in the future.

Had 20 JOkes been a good album with two or three hit singles, the public would have come right back to her. Unfortunately 20 JOkes was largely crap and people stayed away. Simpled as that. She needs to make a good album again and she'll win back her public. It's not exactly a creative stretch for her (she doesn't write any of her music, just her increasingly banal lyrics), more an exercise in good taste and judgement over market forces. And she does need to ditch the dwarf.

After 'Damita Jo' and the Super Bowl fiasco, this was the time for Janet to use the heavy artillery. She should have ditched the tired sex goddess act and made a bold, exciting album that took her in a whole new direction. She seriously needed to re-invent herself.Instead of Jam,Lewis and Jermaine, she should have worked with somebody like Gorillaz.Their 2005 hit "Feels Good Inc" is one of the best songs from last year.Janet needed a groove like that.

u know what's bugged, it that i don't even have DJ or 20 YO. I got AFY late and enjoyed it. So if 20YO is better, i might have to holla. It's like i'm interested but mad at her at the same time for the creative adolescent stagnation she's in. i'm like i know u're a late bloomer sexually and all, but discover the world beyond your clit....its four albums L8r since Janet!

Why be pissed at Jermaine? Could he help it that the general public has spoken loud & clear that they could care less about a new Janet Jackson cd? This doesn't have anything to do with the Superbowl, the Christians & conservatives pissed about SB could not have been Janet Jackson fans in the very first place. So, that excuse is null & void. The opening week...she had Oprah, promo commercials, countless mag covers, #1 R&B single, different cd editions...all that & failed to move 300k in sales!!??!!! Damita Jo did nearly 400k with less promo & only one album edition!! lol She doesn't sell on iTunes, there's no demand from radio listeners....Billboard performance did next to nothing for sales the next week...while every other performer benefitted significantly...and she was the opener! It doesn't get any more clearer than that. Janet Jackson = who cares? The public has spoken.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don't. Look at the sales charts.

BITTER MTV EMPLOYEE...sorry the Superbowl Bonus won't be coming this year (or ever) because of JJ! lol

I know you're kidding but still... I think there is still such a strange Superbowl backlash that it has not only hurt the way people here Janet's albums (agree, though, "20 YO" is one of her weaker effort but it isn't bad) but it's starting to hurt any legacy she had. It's kind of sad that people can't get beyond her boob....Yet Justin Timberlake's electronic shlock sells well and he is praised and awarded for selling Janet out!

As simple as this....Why is Jermaine to blame? He is a main contributor...except for on the tracks on the last half which are the better songs such as "Enjoy", "Take Care", and "Daybreak", which truly recall her roots, not trying to chase Ciara (whose new album truly is a slight "Evolution") and the Pussycat Dolls!

I think there are a multitude of factors that just maxed themselves out simulatenously for Janet. I don't think it's any one single thing at least that's not the impression I get when I talk to casual fans or hear/read their opinions. She just seems to be at the wrong place (in her career) at the wrong time.
