Donna Summer - Our Love

Remember this great album track from Bad Girls? It might have been a single in a few territories, but it's fabulous and also very ahead of its time. New Order "borrowed" a synth riff from this and used it as the opening beat in Blue Monday.

Hot song, one of my faves off that album! I love the drum rolls during the chorus. That trio of songs that close that album are all superb (even with the farty noises during Lucky).

Great song! I had never heard anything like that song during that time. It was way ahead of it's time.

Yeah, we had the album when I was a kid but I never really listened to it until the 90s. Even then, I thought that it sounded as new as anything playing in clubs at that time.

I didn't listen to shit hop in the 90s, I was listening to house music. Folks like Martha Wash, M People, Cajmere, Robin S., etc. Like Tommy Ross said, "Our Love" fit in really well with those type of songs. It almost sounds like it was made in that era.

That's what I'm saying. I was listening to it, oddly enough, around the same time as I was listening to all those acts you mentioned (and some other terrible ones, I'm sure).

During the early to mid 90s, there were a lot of great housy type club jams. A few were played on the radio but not many. They were mainly played in the gay clubs. We had our own style of music and while the rest of the world was listening to stuff slow enough to sit in a rocking chair, we were in the clubs throwin' down. I remember going to a straight club once during that time and leaving after about 20 minutes because the music was so slow and boring.

The party ended though, once the house music started being taken over by acid, techno, trance, or whatever the hell it's called these days. It's too repetitive. Some of it has a great groove but the songs sound the same from the beginning of the song to the end. And some of it is actually too fast. I see why they called it acid. You would have to be high on acid to get into it. lol

"(even with the farty noises during Lucky)"

:giggles: Such a great track almost ruined by that effect.

It's a very strong album that I sometimes underestimate because I'm all about "Once Upon A Time.

I LOVE this song. The last 3 songs of Bad Girls is just so kickass. Hell the entire album is kickass. I love how this song could still be a hit if it was released now. It's hella funky. Donna was and is still the Bomb.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
