So honestly, most of my music collection has been pretty heavily influenced by you guys here on the org.

So please everybody, take a minute, pick out an awesome album from your collection, and tell my why it's so great that I should go get it RIGHT NOW!

any genre
any year
any artist

Gracias! cool
If you will, so will I

Here are a few I'm digging hard: Black Parade-my chemical romance-like a rock opera.very good.

still stuck in your throat-fishbone-excellent and keeps getting better.ska, rock, funk, all mixed up w/excellent musicianship.

return to cookie mountain-tv on the radio-experimental rock/pop w/many textures.very good.

project polaroid-tomc3(w/kool keith)-like a sci-fi soundtrack-excellent hip hop -influenced beats w/clever lyrics and great "vocalizing"

golden hits-little richard-really great sound quality and the song,"rip it up" is off the chain!rock-a-billy/swing/blues

nogatco rd.-mr-nogatco(kool keith and iz-real)-another great sc-fi hip hop record.top shelf stuff.not average hip hop and will never be on any 95-the beat station, though the kids would love it.

Well i know i have said it before but everyone needs to get.....

a-Ha "Analogue" released in late 2005, its their 9th studio album and best yet, proof that Good Bands get better with age, and its better when the members dont really get along that well, creatively that is.

Its tough to find if you dont live in NYC and have access to import stores, now that Tower is gone. a-Ha them selves are a clearly misunderstood band, to me they are more creative than U2, or at least should be mentioned in that class, but a-Ha are often dismissed mainly because of one song that is over 20 years old. The fact is that since 1988, a-Ha has not featured a Keyboard on an album, its all been live piano, drum, guitar music, ranging from rock to well crafted Pop productions, their influence is so obvious in bands like Radio Head,Coldplay,Snow patrol and Keane.

Tracy's debut from 89 I think. Buy it because it's melodic, heartfelt, easy to get into and she is a great singer.

That's a great album. It's produced entirely by Lenny Kravitz (with a few tracks written by Van Hunt) and I think it could be Lenny's best work ever--very hippie-rock-soul like how Lenny used to sound before his music became tired.

Air - Moon Safari

The French group Air is always grouped in with the electronic artists, which seems a bit unfair and limiting. They make great pop music that is heavily influenced by instrumental pop music and melodies of the 1960s. If you've seen and enjoyed any of Sofia Coppola's films, you've heard Air. They did the soundtrack for Virgin Suicides and provided songs for her two subsequent films. Their music is breezy, moody, atmospheric, a bit trippy and sometimes laced with a sly sense of humor (Sexy Boy is as fun as it is funny).

For me, nobody on today's music scene uses synths the way they do. They're sometimes compared to Burt Bacharach and John Barry; both of those seem like appropriate comparisons but not wholly descriptive. Most of their tracks are instrumental, and they save the vocals for their more introverted, meloncholic songs. All I Need and You Make It Easy employ a female vocalist but vocals for the rest of the tracks are mostly ambient.

I can't say that it's an easy sell of an album, but I think it's beautiful.

Everybody But the Girl: Walking Wounded
Tracey Thorn's voice is amazing and I really like the lyrics to the songs. shrug

Sade: Best of Sade
Curtis Mayfield: Superfly
They are both must haves...don't know what else to say.

George Michael: Listen Without Prejudice Vol.1
My favorite George Michael album. Beautiful songwriting.

Damn, I did an actual thread on this album and I can't find it mad

And since the original poster did not try and sell this, I will lol

So I saw this in the discount bin at a store and I was like :wtf: and I thought to myself.....anybody can release a CD these days... and I saw the $1.99 price tag and bought it for sheer kicks and a laugh.

I was like this the whole time eek eek eek eek I imagined this would be no better than a Sesame street soundtrack and I was absolutely blown away. First of all, she has a great voice. I had no idea she could even sing and considering how damn annoying she was on that show I can't say that I ever cared to find out.

The production is just right. It's not over the top and has such strong organic elements and she harmonizes really well. There is some very strong songwriting going on here, some of the strongest in Lenny's whole catalogue nod This album is so overlooked and it's a shame because I still listen to this and I get surprised in very good ways at how great many of these songs are. I have even bought this at full price two times to make sure I keep it in my collection. I can't praise this album enough clapping

Yay! Because of this now I'm listening to this wonderful work worship

I guess I would sell you this:

hitomi's LOVE CONCENT

The album is a great collection of pop rock songs with some great dancefloor jams like Japanese Girl or CRA“G”Y MAMA!

Strangely she has maintaned a huge following and is the leading touring japanese artist...

Japanese Pop at it's finest.

Here's the video for Japanese Girl: http://www.youtube.com/wa...vUneII2rk8

And the video for Ai no Kotoba: http://www.youtube.com/wa...okTL655BgM

And another something from Japan, I recomened Mika Nakashima's new album:

Nana staring Mika Nakashima - THE END

This album congrates songs from the 2 NANA films and the songs are composed and written by the likes of HYDE (L'arc~en~ciel) and TAKURO (of GLAY)
Also feature the most wicked cover of Sinatra's My Way I ever heard!
Note that Mika's normal albums are more of a soul/R&b vibe...so it's nice to see her recording songs as the NANA character!

Sound: Pop Rock with intentions to be punk!

GLAMOROUS SKY:

http://www.youtube.com/wa...BubPxSW7fU

And the kick ass new video of hitoiro:
