I want you to do something for me if you will
EVERYBODY....think back....to your...very...first time
Now I'll give you a little bit longer because I know
Some of you got to think back a little bit FURTHER than other
Come on now, I want you to play catch up
Don't wait till the end of song and say
Oh yeah, now I remember!

Now whether it was good
Or on the other hand maybe it was NOT so good
Here's my story.....

But is it really live? I seem to remember reading someplace (maybe in the liner notes of her greatest hits) that all the audience applause is canned.

Yeah, there is a rumor that the album isn't really "live" at all.Betty has been accused of recording this album in a studio with her band and then adding the "canned audience applause" later. If this is true,I can't see why they had to do this confuse But if it is really live, that sure was one hell of a concert!

gee, so what about clean up woman? had to be a lot of work to bring the audience up and down on certain artists she imitated. but I sure would like to see that live. biggrin

lol yeah,it's amazing to think that she didn't really record it live.I don't know what to believe nuts It seems almost inconceivable that the "Clean Up Woman" medley (which is 17 minutes long,I believe) features "canned" audience reaction.

Thanks to this thread, I bought Betty Wright's greatest hits last night. When I listened to "Babysitter", I thought of you. I enjoyed "Secretary".....

It's very ordinary....for the secretary....to take a man from his wife.

By the way, I work a clerical job and do so much but my actual official job title is "secretary". lol

Harlepolis

She and Millie Jackson, were the only NASTY tongued ladies of soul who made it to semi-mainstream.

Shirley Brown, Barbara Mason, Peggy Scott-Adams, Denise Lasalle and Marlena Shaw couldn't reach Millie & Betty's fame statue nowadays.

But these ladies opened the door for Kim, Foxy, Missy and all the TUFF talking women of RnB nowadays.
