That's a bit harsh. Their cheap shit hop has dominated the R&B airwaves and kept all other styles of R&B out for 15 years. The only way a style change is going to happen is unless something harsh like this happens because they won't let the styles change naturally around every five years like they used to. They have manipulated things and I just see their downfall as them getting what they deserve. Andy is a four letter word.

I still buy all my music on disc/vinyl because for one, it makes me feel like I actually own it as opposed to mp3s which can be wiped out with one unexpected power surge leaving me with nothing. I have yet to download music. And then I have this problem of orgers popping me downloads and either my computer won't take it or I have to listen to it on little headphones because I need computer speakers.

I have an ipod shuffle myself, but it's filled only with Prince bootlegs. I purposely wanted to put only substandard quality sounding music on it so I wouldn't get frustrated when listening to it about why the songs don't sound better.

That's exactly how I am about movies. I only go to movies in the movie theater, unless I have to watch something for work and I never turn on the TV. I'm very picky and purist about my viewing experience. I'm sort of crying inside because film is becoming obsolete and being replaced by digital everything. Everyone says it looks the same, but it doesn't. I can tell the difference and I will always prefer film.

That is a GREAT idea, and would actually be worth carrying around my iPod shuffle. I just bought a car deck that has a USB key on it! HONORING SEXTONSEVEN FOR IDEA OF THE YEAR!

People are so concerned with making things smaller so they carry them around. Hell, give me something that shakes the walls. If it doesn't get loud and powerful enough to disturb the neighbors, it ain't shit. Remember the huge boom boxes in the early 1980s. Those things were as loud as a home stereo. I saw some woman in the 1990s on one of those home shopping networks. She kept bragging on how small the damn boom box was she was trying to sell. She kept saying that with new technology, the speakers didn't have to be as big as they used to be. What she didn't tell people, is that the damn boom box wasn't nearly as loud as the bigger older ones. . . [Edited 12/17/06 11:49am] Andy is a four letter word.

Kids need to understand that it is someone's livelihood they are stealing. And yes, it is stealing. The question of course is, how much does this really cost the industry? You can't just say that since downloading began, their turnover dropped by whatever and downloading is solely responsible for that. People would never buy everything they're downloading now.
The fools are those who like music enough to go and see a concert every once in a while, as they pay for the losses of the company.

The fools are those who like music enough to go and see a concert every once in a while, as they pay for the losses of the company. I download, but usually only stuff you can't find in a store, or stuff I wouldn't pay for in the first place. That said, the only reason the industry is getting all bent out of shape about downloading is because now they have competition. Oh sure, they say, "You're stealing from artists when you download." Bullshit. The INDUSTRY is the one stealing from the artists. The artists rarely see more than a few dimes from those record sales to begin with. I am an artist, trust me on this one. The reason the labels don't make as much money now is because they put out and usually only promote shit music that no one wants to buy in the first place. The Beatles would get laughed out of a record exec's office in this day and age! The industry is only looking for a quick buck, and they use downloading as a scapegoat for the fact that they spend WAY more money than they make. I love cd's too, still buy plenty of em. But the INDUSTRY is the reason music isn't worth shit to people these days, because THEY were the ones who cheapened it to the point that its important roles are to sell burgers, cars, feelings, clothes, etc. I say, Fire up those P2P programs boys 'n' girls!
