Soul-Jazz track of the Day - Tell Me A Bedtime Story -Quincy Jones / Herbie Hancock ...
One of My Favorites from Quincy (and Herbie)!! This great piece was originally written by Herbie Hancock for his 1969-'proto-jazz funk' album, Fat Albert Rotunda (an album based on Herbie's soundtrack for an early Bill Cosby cartoon special).[This tune should be a standard!!!] The Quincy Jones version combines Quincy's great chart arrangement with Herbie Hancock on electric piano, flautist Hubert Laws, bassist Anthony Jackson and violinist Harry Lookofsky , who takes Herbie's electric Piano improvisations and overdubs his violin over and over onto Hancock's transcribed solo.. I thought it was great the way Quincy had Harry sounding like an entire string section!! Anybody Else Feelin' this track?? ...
