still a nice album to listen to. it's aged pretty well.

and don't forget it's companion "relentless"

i love the crap out of that disc, especially 'kdx125'.

yeah, "go west" is the only song i cringe at, just like "new york city boy"
brings down an otherwise rather good album. they're just too damn camp.

although i do really like the last half minute or so of "go west" when the
vocals are gone and the song spinns off into some ambient techno pastiche,
with the "do you feel it?" chipmunk vocal sample looped over it.

great album. All shiny and over-the-top on the surface, but a deep undercurrent of sadness inside. "Go West" is amazing because of the way they do it - it's an impossible dream, a fond wish in the middle of a struggle. Listen to "Dreaming of the Queen", the best song ever about AIDS in my opinion. Just drenched in anquish. And "Liberation" is one of the best love songs ever written in my opinion.

Classic album. cool

Personally, I loved the whole release of the album...everything from the look of the Lego Box to the Videos and then finally the Special edition of Very Relentless with the bubble pack...Very Genius in the packageing...and it didn't hurt that most of the songs were great. Remixes too. For me this was sort of their peak or at least one of them.

I LOVVED Go West (though that NYCB was pure shite). It's one of the reasons I moved to the West Coast "Go West" the Pet Shop Boys said and I did. It's not my favourite by far, but it has a personal meaning to me. I'll never forget the "parodies" we would song for that "Posessed!" Or "Ask yourself now do you like the Liver" for Can you forgive her...

Great album. My favourite is "Young Offender", with its wry lyric: "Ids that fire in your eyes, opr the glow of machines?"

I think it was their last great album to date. I do love Battleship though ...

Thewy did re-release it a couple in 2002 - along with all their back catalogue. No Relentless though, which is a shame. And no Lego.

I meant rerelease Relentless. I already have the Very Further Listening. I really recommend the FUrther Listening CDS (esp if you don't have the original CD's) as there is a booklet that pretty much is a mini interview and insights regrading the Album and the extras. Each is 2 CD's and the extra material is really nice with B-Sides and Remixes and Demos. My only complaint is they come in a slip case and the booklet kinda is just there as it's pretty thick and doesn't fit in the case itself. But other than that, I think it's how most re-issues should be, if there is going to be bonus material.

I can't be still and quiet listening to it. It's the more dance-bond stuff they ever did

The reissues are great. Epecially Behaviour, which is my favourite PSB album. Oh, and the slipcases? Put them in your local recycling bin. I always do. Waste of a good tree.

Indeed! Why they released the fucking awful Disco 2 instead of this is a mnystery Neil Tennant himself is still pondering. I quite liked the recent live album too.

It's a great album and I think the first original PSB album I bought (as the remastered edition with the bonus disc but not "Relentless, which I would love to hear). Ever see their live concert "Montage" from the Nightlife tour? They do this slower verison of "Young Offender", with some movie playing in the background (the Montage concert actually does a lot with imaged laying over the concert photoage, kind of cool).

Have they released "Concrete" in the US? The tracklist doesn't thrill me but I guess I would like to hear new verisons of some hits.

I am pretty sure with the release of Disco 3 (probably the only thing I don't own), created pretty much the "Disco Series" for good or bad. Now we can expect one every few albums. It seems to me that the series gives the fans an "inbetween" album as well as having a place for the remixes that a lot of fans (esp in the states) don't get to hear.

I actually liked Disco 2, though it did get repetitive at times. I thought there were interesting remixes on it, like the Liberation one that nobody got to hear until that came out.

I purchased the d/load of "concrete" from www.7digital.com for fairly cheap. I've only played it about once all the way thru, though. It really hasn't hit me as being that great, but I probably should give it another spin.

It's patchy - I'm not a fan of their post Very albums, although I have them all - but there are some real highlights, like the afore-mentioned Rent, Left To My Own Devices and West End Girls.

Anything I've read about "Disco 2" has been negative from fans. Love "Disco 3", though. Not their best songs (not fitting for an album or as good as most of their stellar b-sides but fun).
