What artist/music are you getting into... For the past 2-3 years, I've been exploring the realms of jazz music. Jazz is such an interesting form of music that I dont think you could ever FULLY absorb it all or even most of it...lol...
I'm not abandoning jazz but the sounds of 70's rock has really peaked my interest. Song like "Reeling In The Years" by Steely Dan, "Cheap Sunglasses" by ZZ Top, Pre-Michael McDonald Doobie Brothers, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin and ANYTHING by Funkadelic is occupying my musical landscape right about now. That period in time was SO dynamic for music. Even though I'm only 26, songs like "Reeling In The Years" and/or "Ramble On" from Zepplin just transport you to some other time and space. I LOVE that music! What are you listening to or just getting into that is really peaking your interest musically..

This past year I have become a FIEND for dance and electronica! It all started when I bought M.I.A.'s album and now I can't stop seeking new stuff I'm also really feeling Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Marilyn Monroe's movie songs, and just about anything Cole Porter contributed too. I'm not too sure what genre they would all fall into? [Edited 12/8/06 16:43pm] If you will, so will I

Well, I've been discovering various old music for the past few yrs. I'm 20 now. I started with Van Halen and I'm currently on Stevie Ray Vaughan. It ranges from people like Lennon and Guns N' Roses to Etta James and Donny Hathaway. This forum got me into Steve Vai. Love him. <333. Thanks.

I heard the expression "using their voice as a percussion" but I've yet to hear somebody who pronounced that expression so much till I heard that man's music. Everything about him oozes rhythm, even the space in his music. [Edited 12/8/06 19:02pm]

Trying to find some more Frances Faye and 60s bubblegum pop (I know they're not related...anyway...) I actually found an album by October Country and a few Castaway songs...but that stuff is so hard to come by.

Ritchie Blackmore's music with his wife/girlfriend. Their band's called Blackmores's Night formed in mid 90s after Ritchie was done with Rainbow. Celtic music with eastern flavours and ofcourse Blackmore's brilliant guitar playing and Miss Night writing the lyrics/singing the lead vocals.

do you like celtic music at all? Because it was very easy to get into for me compared to others as Blackmore's Night music relies more on guitars and the structures of songs with vocals is the usual verse/bridge/chorus system. And the lyrics dont have extremely deep metaphors that needs knowledge of celtic mythology/literature... I am currently hooked on Renaissance Faire and especially the title track. So tempted to buy all of their albums
