Gwen Stefani: Yay or Nay

Maybe I missed this posting, but has anyone bought Gwen's new album, and if so, is it worth the time and money?

I got it and listened to it without judgement for 2 days and I can safely say this..

-Not as great as LAMB
-The Neptune tracks have NO melody and they all sound like leftovers from LAMB
-The Nelee Hooper track 'Early Winter' is one of her best songs ever (if you loved 'Cool' on LAMB..you'll LOVE this as well..very infectous pop song)
-The Tony Kanal (of ND) produced tracks are really good too..they have great chemistry and you can tell Tony loves his Prince!!!

So I would say half the album is good...half is really horrid IMO. But I'm not too mad as I got it for 9.99 at Target...would NOT pay full price...

hope this helps!

NAY NAY NAY!! and I'm a Gwen fan lol

I mean some tracks are ok, but ok is as good as it gets.
And when this album is bad, it's REAL bad, like Fergie bad, but I guess
If you are a just looking for some nice beats, go for it.

Stand out track(s): The Sweet Escape http://www.youtube.com/wa...Nqm7q6swis

Nay. She might just be the most overrated current 'artist' there is. Just because she acts and sings like a retard does not make her original, unique or clever. 'No Doubt' were average enough, but now she's alone the downward spiral has just got steeper and steeper. Seriously lacking, or just now showing, any kind of talent.

i like it but it's true that the tracks are not as strong or catchy as the ones on LAMB. So far I like wind it up, yummy, florescent and orange county girl!

Haven´t heard anything from the new album, but I liked LAMB at first, but after a while I stopped listening to it and haven´t listened to it since.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I totally agree with your assessment. I felt the same way. I wish she would stay away from the rap based stuff and stick to more of the 80's new wave influenced stuff.

The only Neptunes song worth it's salt on the new album is Yummy - although the title makes me cringe.

It has a great beat and the end sequence sound very cool and industrial!

Early Winter is indeed her best record to date. Flourencent is pretty cool also.

The rest sucks. She has zero talent, but just enough charisma to make up for it.
