Outkast's Idlewild - Can Someone Please Describe? I've heard 2 songs off the soundtrack (Andre's Idlewild blues and the other one with the gold stretched car in the video).
Can someone please describe the rest of the CD, and the movie to me? For some reason I have an idea in my head that someone sells their soul to the devil . . .

I still haven't seen the movie or listened to the soundtrack. I loved the Love Below/Speakerboxx...

Just finished watching it on DVD -- typical gangster plot, set in 1935, murder, gambling, romance, opportunistic women, a stutterin' fool, just like Harlem Nights only with dance and music sequences. Labeled as a drama, but I thought it was more of a comedy to me . . . .

The soundtrack is actually better than the movie, IMHO. Idlewild was a pretty good album, but it's not one of their best efforts. The production is not too different from their typical, worldly productions. Big Boi is in fine form on this set and Dre does a mere average job too. The movie was OK, but it could've been a little more better. I loved the choreography, the cast, and the songs were very hot, but the script needed some polishing up. I'm shocked that Idlewild didn't recieve any Grammy nods. [Edited 12/9/06 17:35pm] Check me out and add me on:

I've come to conclude it is not one of Outkast's best, but they are so far ahead of the pack that it's a worthwhile listen.

I saw the DVD at Blockbuster today . . . first, I couldn't believe that it was out on DVD already. Seemed like it was just in theaters. I was there for something else, otherwise I would've picked it up.
Again, for some reason I thought it was a somewhat lighthearted "musician sold his soul to the Devil" kinda movie. The trailers all seem to have that New Orleans/Voodoo feel to them. I guess I was way off! I think I am going to put the CD on my Christmas list
