In that case, more power to them....but if they keep trying to make like they are "The Family Stone", I think its false advertisment. Personally, I think they should play under the name "Little Sister" as she used to be called back when Sly first produced them. I still wonder why Rose Stone is playing in one group and her daughter is playing in another and they both call themselves The Family Stone. I know someone who saw The Family Stone perform a gig out here in L.A. a little while before Sly apperared at that award show. He said they were o.k., but nothing like Sly. So, I didn't feel that bad not seeing them. I'll be the first to state that when I saw this thread, I thought of Sly and the Family Stone. Larry, Jerry, the whole mob. Not his daughters and what not. When I think of "The Family Stone", I'm sure in the hell not thinking of his "immediate" family. I can careless about that. If this is the case and Sly's "peoples' are the band, then hell, Sly might not even get up on stage. I don't need to see him kicking it over in the corner and shit. The Grammy thing was misleading. Higher is an incredible song, but not exactly a vocal showpiece for Sly. I though the tiny bit of singing he did sounded decent, though. I wonder how he'll be when he's given more time to stretch out a bit. My Legacy

I dont recall she was singing.....maybe her trademark "Get up and dance 2 the music" or "All The Squares GO HOME" scream into the mic, but its not meant to be pretty. But she is one of the best female trumpet players in the world (says Sly), and quite possibly one of the only Black Female trumpet players. She is the only original S&TFS player that plays with both The Original Family Stone and Family Stone Band Coached by Sly. Was it Chaka Khan your talking about? | |
