MJ's HIStory sucks. I'm not a big MJ fan, so I'm just now really seriously listening to HIStory, and I'm amazed at how mediocre the songs are so far.
A lot of the songs are just plain forgettable, but a lot of them sound really, really desperate and over the top. Talk about trying too hard to prove yourself. Was the pressure just getting to him way too much or something? I'm not hearing much here that sounds natural. Dangerous grew on me big time... bullshit statement, and i guarantee the following posts will confirm that
dangerous was hotness yea, i know...

Why is it bullshit? It's my opinion. The stuff here sounds like it's trying too hard, and the parts with rap are annoying on Dangerous (that's more of a small side note though). The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I played the hell outta my copy of Dangerous when it came out in '91 and it was just terrific and banging. Teddy Riley's productions on this record was fresh and Mike was just as sharp as he was when he did Thriller in 1982. Sure it was extremely overlong, but I loved every minute of it. A huge change of pace for Mike! I kinda lost interest in him when he did HIStory, though. It was half-good-half-bad , because it was a little too bombastic for my taste. Check me out and add me on:

Nevermind, I've given Dangerous a good, long listen and it's fucking great.
This is all about HIStory now, which really sucks. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I didn't like HIStory that much either. I really like the first 3 tracks, expecially "Stranger In Moscow". But the rest of the album is mediocre. There are rare moments of gold like "You Are Not Alone", the screaming at the end of "Earth Song" and "Little Susie". But overall, mediocre album. I can't songs like "This Time Around" (except for the crazy chanting stuff during the rap), "2 Bad" (the beat is awesome, but the chorus sucks ass, and Shaquille O'Neal for fuck's sake) and "D.S." (worst MJ song ever). Those victim songs are so damn crap. The only victim song I like is "Scream". But if you shuffle through the shit there are some very good moments of gold on that album.

I like the first 3 tracks, especially "They Don't Care About Us". The rest is filled with weak tracks, Shaq rapping on some song, victim crybaby lyrics, weird fixation tracks "Little Susie", boring re-treads "Earth Song", even Biggie couldn't save one of those songs. I loved it in `95 but now I don't even listen to it.
'Cept "They Don't Care About Us" is still awesome. Spike Lee video is one of the very best in his career.

All I can say is...
That being said, HIStory (Disc 2) is Michael's BEST stuff...ever IMO. Excluding "Little Susie." (While it interesting and Michael's vocals are powerful - the melody creeps me out.) Why I LOVE History (Disc 2): Scream Simply one of Michael's BEST opening songs. Janet only adds to the song. (However, I love watching Michael on the HIStory Tour perform it alone.) I really liked hearing him say "Damn it." That song came out right when I was becoming a teenager and starting to rebel from my parents, and that song, was great for those "rebelish teenage feelings" or "dealing with the scum media." Whatever you need it to do..it does. They Don't Care About Us WOW. One of Michael's best. Period. D.S. I love hearing Michael rant about conspricies. (I can't stand the guy either Michael. Don't blame you.) I love hearing Michael rant about conspiricies. It is interesting to imagine Michael REALLY thinking the C.I.A. was out to get him. However, if he did, he just becomes MORE interesting to me as a fan. Either way, GREAT TRACK. (And if this a peek into Michael's mind, talk about INTERESTING.) Money Love it. I could do without the "helling" G-D line. However, all and all, I think the song is catchy, and Michael's ad libs are great. Stranger in Moscow / 2 Bad 2 words: Love it! Come Together Better than The Beatles version. (There I said it! ) You Are Not Alone I love it. However, the ending is the best part when Michael really lets go and starts calling out at the end, GREEEEAT. This Time Around Is this how Michael really thinks sometimes? If so, I really think he has an interesting mind. All my friends who love hip hop, and rap, DIG this song. They agree with me that, "It is one of Michael's best and a great song." Who am I to argue?

Hmmm... it took years for me to enjoy this album because of all the "victim" songs. But it really does have some great songs on it. I like! I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
