As I was filling out my Christmas cards yesterday,I pulled out some Christmas CDs ![]()
These are two of my favorite Christmas CDs.The Whispers' Happy Holidays To You' album was originally released in 1979.It's a pleasant, soulful and sometimes funky collection of holiday music.Natalie's CD 'Holly and Ivy' was released in 1994 and several of the songs are jazzy. She has an amazing voice and brings new life to the classics, plus there are a few original songs that are superb. Both albums get me through the holidays. Anyone else playing their Christmas music yet?

another one of my favorite artists,Donna Summer, released a Christmas album in 1994 but it's not one of my favorites. It's too slow, too mundane.Since she is the former "Disco Queen",I expected this album to be exciting and fun,but it's neither. She should have done a dance music Christmas album!

This is what i`m playing now
You`re right about this one....
She also recorded "The christmas song" in 1991, at the same time as "Unforgettable", it was only released as a single.
And of course ![]() | |

Her rendition of "White christmas" makes up for everything... It's cool, but her album puts me to sleep.I wish she had included more uptempo songs.Another problem is,the original songs (which she wrote) are disappointing, with some really embarassing lyrics... no time for napping, there's buying and wrapping the gifts to be given away

They`re OKAY, but "The holly and the ivy" is definitely the best one she did. "Celebration of christmas" would have been GREAT if it hadn`t been for Domingo & Carreras! They manage to ruin many of the songs. On "Christmas with you" she only sings half of the songs, you can skip this one... "The magic of christmas" is a gem. There`s a beautiful song called "Mary, did you know", and her brilliant rendition of "Sleigh ride"

Oh hell naw! When I think of Donna Summer, I think of fun dance music. She can keep that one. Andy is a four letter word.

It's a snoozefest, the kind of Christmas album you would expect from Amy Grant or Celine Dion.

Christmas cheer, filtered through jazz, pop, old school soul, and electronica.

Personally, I'm in the minority. I like the old-school version much better. I find the newer version a little overblown. But there's an older Temptations Christmas collection on CD that has songs from the original and newer Temps, including "your" "Silent Night." But I do like the newer Temps' version of "Let It Snow." While you're on the subject of comedy songs, let me ask you something because I know you remember lots of old jams. Do you remember this song and who is it? Let me be your Santa Claus baby. Let me be your Santa Claus mama. It's cold out here mama. Let me in mama. Let me be your Santa Claus mama. He basically talks through the entire song in a Barry White type voice. They used to play it on the radio every year but they haven't since CDs have taken over so I'm thinking it's something that is still only on vinyl. I could have sworn the DJs used to announce the artist as Bill Cosby but I'm wondering if I'm wrong since I can't seem to find the song anywhere. Andy is a four letter word.
