Dream Singing. Does this happen to anyone else? I hear music in my dreams. That might sound common but how I hear it.....well I don't know if that is. This happens almost exclusively during that state where you are just about to fall into a deep sleep but you are slightly aware that you aren't fully asleep yet. During that state, I have had the feeling of paralysis or that someone is there in the room with me. I know a lot of you have had that feeling in that state. Sometimes I've even felt like I was dying or couldn't breathe the paralysis was so bad. But that isn't what I'm talking about. I'm just trying to identify the state I'm talking about since I've heard many people explain that same thing about the paralysis.
So during that state, many times I will hear music. But it's music I'm creating in my own head. Many times I am creating music that I've never heard before. Other times I will hear a song that I already know and I will be able to control the way that song plays and sounds. I can leave it alone and hear the song the way it normally sounds or I can think about changing certain things about the song and that will be what I hear. Not only that but I can sing during this but I'm almost never singing in my own voice. I can sing in the voice of my favorite artists and it isn't just that I can hear them singing but I can control it so that the way they are singing is the way I want to sing. And the music and singing is always the most amazing things I have ever heard. But it really sucks because I'm not a musician so I will sometimes wake up with the music or lyrics fresh in my mind and I have no way of writing them down and I really aint that great a singer so I can't really sing what I just heard either Does this happen to anyone else or am I alone here? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I had a dream last summer (I'll never forget it) In my dream I was sick...and all these people came to visit me at my house. Beyonce was in my kitchen I wrote a song and I asked her to sing it. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! So much I wanted to cry. When I woke up,I wrote down the lyrics. I even googled the lyrics to see if it was a real song. I didnt find anything. Such a pretty song "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

...32MB Digital Voice Recorder - $30 @ Walmart Start recording as soon as you wake up. If you can't handle the melody just get the lyrics down. The more you do it, the better you'll get at it. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Wow. That sounds incredible.
You should definately at least try to get them down when you wake up, even if you're not thrilled with the result. Maybe there's a thread in there somewhere. oh noes, prince is gonna soo me!!1!

Yeah, I actually cringe and barf when I hear my own voice on recording Maybe I should get that recording thing and put down what I can and have a real singer see if they can salvage any of it 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Then get the recorder and get on with it. Who knows, you might come up with something that she'd record one day. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I often dream that I'm humming, or hearing a song that doesn't even exist. I wake up then and forget the melody though.
Although last night I had a dream that I was in a relataionship with Jimmy Page. (in the 70s) I was sitting on his lap and he had his arms wrapped around me and I started singing CSNY's "Love the One You're With". Then I woke up. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 I can't help what I dream you know. I spelled "relationship" wrong in my initial post though I see, so that has to mean something significant. Neither can I! http://www.prince.org/msg/100/210313 I think the fact that you had a dream with an orger in it is far scarier than The Hand. Although I'm intrigued by the blue skirt bit. And did you read Stephen King's "The Moving Finger" (one of his short stories from ages ago)? You should. Especially after this dream I think. The paralysis state you experienced is called sleep paralysis. I suffered from it for almost an entire summer a few years ago. It can be quite a frightening experience, particularly when it seems that someone is in the room with you. It's pretty cool that you can create music in your mind when you're in that state, though. All I ever heard was a weird buzzing noise.

Interesting because I almost always hear that buzzing noise and I think that is when I'm able to start creating music. I can turn that buzzing into something else instead of it just being that high constant buzz. I talked about the sleep paralysis thing so that people could identify with the sleep state I was talking about 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I love it when I wake up laughing, particularly if I can remember what I'm laughing at. I had a dream like that a couple of months ago and it's such a wonderful way to start the day.
