you were actually right, come back to reality.....

I get really nasty looks from people when it's on. For some strange reason they're very irritated by her voice lol

Strange Phenomena is vomit inducing unlike anything on HOL

Her voice on that album IS awful because she hadn't figured out how to use it and it was therefore higher than a wailing banshee's on the planet Mordar.

That and Room For The Life are the weak spots, imo. Love the rest of it.

It's not awful at all. Go listen to The Man With The Child In His Eyes or The Saxophone Song. Her voice is as beautiful as it would ever be.

I keep hearing about how shrill she used to be. I can't WAIT to hear it.

Sorry, but many fans would agree that she figured out how to tame her voice later on. This is why a lot of people prefer the re-recorded version of Wuthering Heights since the original has the terrible high voice.

I hate the re-recording. And sure, you'll find a few who do prefer it, but the whole point of Wuthering Heights was that witchy vocal.

And for fuck's sake, the entire first album is not shrill. Go listen to the two songs I mentioned, come back and tell me they're shrill and I'll laugh dog breath in your face. biggrin

I like it better when she sings it straight. It doesn't need that embellishment at all IMHO.

I think there are quite a few terrible tracks on that album, headlined by Strange Phenomena and Feel It barf It was clear she was just figuring out how things worked on that record.

Oh, and Gangsta, if you can deal with Joni's shrill vocals on her first two albums then you'll easily cope with Kate's.

Really? Many people still consider it one of the best debut albums.
Most of the songs stand up to this day.

Feel It is a fave of mine, although it was only about two years ago when it finally hit me.

Yeah, I have never considered this a particularly auspicious debut. I find the songs pretentious and annoying, and her voice unbearable (except for a few tracks).

Rerecorded Wuthering Heights is boring and lacks the mystic quality of the original. And it doesnt have that glittery campy sound effect(dont know what it's called lol ) which accompannies the piano at the intro

She says not. She just never got around to doing another tour. Yeah, lame. lol
She was planning to take Never For Ever and The Dreaming on the road as her second tour... that would've been something to witness. sigh
