Janet can't get a break...even Kathy Griffin is dissing her GRIFFIN: Well, I saw Janet Jackson up close. And she's a little freaky looking because, you know, she lost the weight so rapidly and she's very muscular, you know? She's very, very beautiful -- a little drag queen, but very beautiful. Very petite. You know, that whole L.A. thing of being just unbelievably petite is beyond me. But there was some good scandal.
I didn't actually sneak in. I was actually a presenter this time. But I love seeing the performances. And the lip synching always cracks me up, because who are they fooling? KING: Who -- do they lip synch a lot? GRIFFIN: I'm sure Janet lip synched. I'm sure of it. KING: Really? GRIFFIN: Janet Jackson has not sung live since the Jackson 5 reunion Christmas special in 1987. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Kathy is a fan. She tends to joke about people she likes. She's been to see Celine Dion in Vegas about 10 times, but she makes fun of her all the time.
Anyway, Kathy Griffin calling someone ELSE a drag queen should NOT be taken seriously.

Janet was singing, yes. They should have turned her vocals up or she should have just lipped. She's been singing live a lot this era, but I don't know if it's always the best decision when she's dancing like she does.

Kathy is the shit... Would love to hear her go off on Prince one day... Her humor can be biting and cold but it always seems to come from a good-hearted place, if that makes any sense.

I LOVE KATHY GRIFFIN
I've seen her live and I almost passed out from laughing so hard...esp when she talks about the Gayken (Clay A) peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Yeah, I don't mind her, either. She doesn't seem malicious. Also she can laugh at herself which is always a good trait.

there must have been crazy tape delay or something because when i watched it it was obvious janet was lip syncing. lip syncing a pre-recorded "live" track, of course, but lip syncing nonetheless. many times her mouth did not match the words, like the piece in her ear was slightly ahead of the music. she was definitely lip syncing with an occasional spoken word thrown in for appearance.

Kathy makes me wonder if she's not kidding. I watched the RN tour clips on youtube from the broadcast in Japan in 1990...it was obvious EVERY note was lip-synched, even when the dancing wasn't that heavy. It was somewhat disheartening (is that a word?) Lots of stuff on both her concert DVDs seem totally lip-synched. The Superbowl was, but everyone does it there. "Lets Wait Awhile" on the AmEx site seemed live. I really wonder if we can ever determine how much --50%, 80%?--the woman fakes her live vocals. I can't remember the last time MJ sang live. I know Madonna gets a lot of flak for her live singing being off key, out of breath, not sounding ANYTHING like her studio voice, but she seems to be at least 80% LIVE in her concerts, which is cool, because her performing is very aerobic too. *waits to get shot down by VC I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

i STILL think her Grammy performance of What Have You Done For Me Lately back in 86 or 87 was her BEST appearance ever.

Pleasure Principle she wasn't lipping. So Excited she was. My point is that she needs to just do the damn album version instead of rerecording shit.

Janet does her ballads live. I've seen bootlegs of the Pleasure Principle solo in Japan and there was no way she could ever have sung that live the way it sounds on tape. She sounded like crap at the BMA's because she did it live. Lots of stuff on both her concert DVDs seem totally lip-synched.
Because it is. The Superbowl was, but everyone does it there.
She was smart enough to use the album versions. "Lets Wait Awhile" on the AmEx site seemed live.
Her ballads always are. She's sung So Excited and Nasty live a few times this era. I really wonder if we can ever determine how much --50%, 80%?--the woman fakes her live vocals. I can't remember the last time MJ sang live.
Use the following rule: Dancing = lipped; Ballad = live. It works pretty much every time, at least for her tours I know Madonna gets a lot of flak for her live singing being off key, out of breath, not sounding ANYTHING like her studio voice, but she seems to be at least 80% LIVE in her concerts, which is cool, because her performing is very aerobic too.
Personally I wouldn't put Madonna's dancing on the level of Michael's or Janet's. The moves aren't as intricate, not as strenuous. Madonna has accomodated her dancing so she can sing live. The others have not.

I love Kathy Griffin too. There was a marathon of her standup on a week or so ago. I was lucky enough to be home and watched 90% not caring that I had seen all of it many times before. The Brooke Shields wedding story is priceless.
Who farted? Kuwait! As for Janet, I feel a little bad for her since I keep hearing (non-Org) people were disappointed over her Billboard performance. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Why so many threads about this freak show? She can't sing, she looks like shit and should just give up.
And so should Janet. | |

I almost don't even bother to TiVO/DVR anymore. I'll catch it later on YouTube (until they shut it down of course). Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
