Mary J. Blige: MJB Da MVP (New version) and that greatest hits compilation!

cool

Very cool stuff!

I love the new version of MJB Da MVP (with extra words and blurbs) and the solo version of One is beautiful!

For a casual fan (and not very into Mary) like myself this is quite a treat and maybe a good introduction to her stuff (I'm waiting for some album recomendations, fellow orgers!)

Here's the tracklist:

1. "Reflections (I Remember)"
2. "We Ride (I See the Future)"
3. "You Know"
4. "King & Queen" (Duet with John Legend)
5. "No More Drama"
6. "Family Affair"
7. "Real Love"
8. "No One Will Do"
9. "Be Without You"
10. "I'm Going Down"
11. "911" (Duet with Wyclef Jean)
12. "Not Gon' Cry"
13. "My Life '06"
14. "Be Happy"
15. "I'll Be There For You" / "You're All I Need To Get By" (Razor Sharp Mix) (Duet with Method Man)
16. "As" (Duet with George Michael)
17. "One" (With U2)
18. "MJB Da MVP"

Still some people I know, complain that some essencial songs are missing. What do the members of the .org think should have been in it?

The problem is that it's a one disc set. She's had, what, six studio albums before this? There's a lot missing. It's disappointing to see one song from her debut album. It's still my fave of hers (on some days).

It's an absolutely shit compilation that is missing a ton of hits. Why bother?

Her first two albums are essential: What's the 411? (it's debatable, but this is the album that many credit as the breakthrough for women in hip hop) and My Life. Some great stuff on My Life. A lot of people consider that to be her best. It's a deeply personal set of songs, because she was going through a lot both in her professional and personal life. Mary had an awful reputation when she first came onto the scene; couple that with a failed romance and it makes for a great album. The other essential is the Mary album. There's some good 70s soul inspired material on there.

The cd with the Elton John cut is her best in my opinion. I think that was 1999 if I'm not mistaken.

The Benny & The Jets interpolation? Yeah, that's Deep Inside from the Mary album.

Like how many new songs are on there...she needs a nothing but hits type of collection and I won't be shocked if in a year or so, her record company (or companies) release one. Here is what is sorely missing!

"Sweet Thing"
"I'm Going Down"
"I Can Love You"
"Everything"
"Give Me You"
"Your Child"
"Love Is All We Need"

"Love @ First Sight" and "Rainy Dayz" were pretty big hits, but screw those. I guess it isn't bad but it sure seems to have a lot of padding (like five new songs?) and non-essentail duets for an artist who could easily put out an 80-mintue set of only hits and still leave some off.

Mary has said that Reflections isn't a GH set. If you can recall this was supposed this was supposed to be released before The Breakthrough came out last year...

I think it's not a GH set in the same way that Mariah claimed #1's was not a GH set.

So it's bullshit....I hate those sets that aren't quite greatest hits....give us a break, baby!

This should be 2 discs - one disc of club bangers and another of slow jams.

How many new songs are on this?

I'm with you. I'm not too upset since I have all the albums, so I like the 4 new tracks. But for casual fans, this set is missing so much- even if it's not technically "a greatest hits" album. So when they do put one together it needs to be a double album.
