I think they are both crap albums with some good single material. But in today's climate, I don't think B'Day is a commercial flop. It is still Top 10 and will probably be at over 2 million sold by the end of December.

I don't think they are dropping her from Sony anytime soon but yeah, not good. After struggling with the first two singles, "Irreplaceable" seems like a solid hit single. Not sure if it's doing much for the album. Could help Janet...

Does it matter? Comparing sales from 3 years ago is pointless considering sales overall have dropped about 7% or so every year since then. Out of all the acts today, Beyonce is one of the few selling over a million.

Which was complete shit. I had it for about as long as it took me to hear it all the way through, and then out the window it went.

It is definently NOT a flop. I absolutely love this new album. I have listened to it many, many more times than I did I first one, and her first solo album was great. I think that with B'Day, Beyonce showed just how much she has evolved musically. I love her new album.

well se is about to be double by Christmas time, and then Dreamgirls promotion is already kicking in, which will make her near triple, and then the Grammys will probably eat her tasty clit like they did last time, so by April she can be around 4 or 5 times platinum

No, I sure wouldn't call this one a flop. lol It looks on track to be selling faster than Dangerously In Love, and without a monster single like "Crazy In Love." I don't think B-Day has ever been out of the Top 20 since its debut (before "Irreplaceable" came out). It was what, #5 or 6 in last week's Billboard, coming in higher than Justin's for the week. I don't know if it's because of "Irreplaceable" or Oprah or what....but she's holding her own.

Dangerously In Love sold around 4 million. B-Day will probably do the same. There aren't as many "hooks" on this CD, but I find it way more interesting than her first one. I like it a lot, actually.

K not a fan of B, but i think the media is going to create the "downfall of a diva" with the dreamgirls movie. Whathername, that was on AI, is getting all the buzz bout being a break out performance when it was suppose to be all B's shit in your face.

The media has already started the rumor mill that B and/or family have been snubbing AI girl, who's coming off all fresh and morning dew like. While B is being seen as a bitch diva piss cause she's not being buzz worthy.

ah how the media manipulates.

razz i love it

This is funny, I just sorted mentioned something along those lines on the "Listen" Dreamgirls' thread. They seem to be marketing it has if she's the star of the movie but she isn't and she must've known that when she took the part. It's all about Effie's "And I'm Telling You!!!"

Some of the articles do seem rather catty or something....pitting the two women against each other when their roles are completely different. I think if Beyonce had taken a break instead of releasing "B-Day" some of that anticipation for a "downfall" would be lessened, though.

Me too. I wasn't a big fan of "Dangerously" and I didn't like this new one much better at first. But it's really grown on me. It's feels more off-the-cuff and alive somehow.

Hell no!

Her album is still selling and "Irreplaceable" is about to hit #1 on the Hot 100.

She is going to sell even more through the holidays and of course from all the "Dreamgirls" press. She may come close to matching the sales from her 1st solo CD, which I believe sold 3 million or so in the U.S.

In today's music climate where we can probably count the number of albums that went double platinum this year on 2 hands, no I don't think it was a flop at all.

I do think it didn't sell as much as expected though, but thats what she deserves for rushing out a half-ass album full of screaming in 2 weeks confused
If you will, so will I

I heard she didn't spend very long on her solo debut either. shrug Which is what we're comparing to now.

lol

The album has only been out for 3 months. "Dangerously In Love" did not go 4x platinum in 3 months time. You can hardly compare right now. The album is far from a flop, it has yet to leave the Top 20 since its release back in early September. And it's back in the Top 10 for a 2nd week being 1 spot shy outside the Top 5. If HDD is right, it's gonna be selling 100k+ for this week's tally as well. And "Irreplaceable" is set to be #1 next week being #1 in both digital sales & airplay. You want flops....check out Jessica Simpson, Nelly Furtado, Janet, etc...

Hey, the first one wasn't phenomenal in my book either, but at least she
didn't just howl at the moon the whole album.
