Jimi Hendrix - Wait Until Tomorrow

This is a funky tune. Love the guitar chords at the beginning.

Definitely one of my favorite tracks from Axis. Reminds me alot of the soulful stuff that was coming from Atlantic, Stax, and Motown back in the day!

I think my favorite of Axis is "Castles Made of Sand"... that guitar really gives color to the song...

I love that song too...very Dylan-esque and poetic!

Yep, another good one off of Hendrix's most beautiful album.

Another classic Hendrix intro - there's nothing like the sound of a funky strat!

Great song from a great LP. From some strange reason I always could always see the young Jackson 5 covering this song. A very soulful jam. When Jimi strikes the 1st opening notes, you can hear the reverb and it sounds like the ocean.

Would any of you say that there is some Curtis Mayfield influence at work on this album? I have head about his influence on this album in songs such as:

Wait Until Tomorrow
Little Wing
Castles made of Sand
And also perhaps on Little Miss Lover and Ain't No Telling

Do any of you detect any other influence on Jimi in any of these songs on the Axis album?

The title track, most definitely sounds alittle like Curtis' sound. I mean, Axis: Bold As Love is probably the most soulful and tightest record he ever recorded with the Experience. When I listen to Curtis Mayfield's solo debut, Curtis from 1970, I immediately think about Jimi's Axis. Castles Made Of Sand reminds me of Dylan, no-brainer!

Late Saturday night I was watching PBS and they show the entire performance of Hendrix Live at Woodstock! eek My god. I thought the Holy Spirit was falling.

It was soooo awesome.

That and "Remember." My gosh, "Remember" sounds like it could've been a Berry Gordy production to me, sometimes. Love it.

Also going past the Axis album, how about his very soulful turn on 'Have You Ever Been(To ElectricLadyland)'. Maybe his most soulful moment ever on record.

Yeah, I can see the J5, era 71-72, covering this. The kinda had that Beatle, Sly vibe anyway in their music on the Maybe Tomorrow album.

I only have a greatest hits compilation called "The Ultimate Experience" and an album I bought in the 1980s called "High, Live, and Dirty".

I've been meaning to buy some of the full albums but haven't gotten around to it yet. The thing stopping me is, I keep reading the CD tracks in the record store and the CDs look extremely long. I'm wondering if they are the original albums in their entirety on CD and not a compilation of different tracks. I know albums weren't that long back in those days.
