ANYway, if you'd like to watch the AMEX performances head on over to http://www.fox.com/billboard/amex Card Number:800-639-1202 Name: Janet Jackson Thanks! I knew somebody around here would hook us up!

Just got through watching the AMEX performance.
Both performances were ok at best and I'm thinking she's suffering from the Mariah Carey syndrome because she couldn't hit any of the strong notes in Let's Wait A While. That was kinda painful to watch.

That was kinda painful to watch. I will never consider Janet a singer....never...she's a great performer, songwriter and visual artist, which makes up for the singing, so I could still enjoy it.. I loved her dancing. So much heat, aggression, fire, attitude, funk--she plays her body like a funky bass. Awesome. Best performance of this era and much better than any of the numbers she performed while promoting Damita Jo... But the REAL treat were the two performances on AmEx website. Nasty with a live band sounds better than EVER...love the "no my first name ain' shorty" (was that a Jermaine diss?)...and "Lets Wait Awhile" was stunning, beautiful vocals. It was so good to hear that full song with the bridge and not crammed into a melody. I hope she performs the Control songs all in full this time around on tour. Can't wait to see the real show! Janet is FIYAH. A flop album for Janet always makes her singe 100x better onstage. You call that performance of Let's Wait Awhile stunning and beautiful vocals???? Oh well, we all see/hear things differently.

I think Let's Wait Awhile is due for an arrangement update. Something to bring it to life.
As for the wig--maybe she didn't have 18 free hours in her schedule. I never would have imagined it took that long. I saw a pic of her and JD at the Billboards cheesin' it up so I guess they're still together. [Edited 12/5/06 5:42am] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

i enjoyed the billboard performance...
she just needed a better outfit...my lord...why would anyone put that on and think it looked attractive? Space for sale...

For the Nasty performance I actually thought she had too much on (never thought I’d say that). Hard to see the movements with all the black. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I honestly did enjoy the subduded heartfelt vocals of "Lets Wait Awhile." I'm not a stickler for technique, I like passion and yes she sounded good to ME.
Did anyone watch the interview on the AmEx website? WORST JANET INTERVIEW EVER! Not her fault...that dumb bitch conducting it looked like she was winging every question, had no follow ups, and hadn't done ANY homework. Poor Janet did her best. That woman was an idiot! The final expression they capture on Jan's face was priceless! I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

The song selection from last night has me thinking about the tour setlist now...two FULL songs from Control and a verse/chorus of another and a snipit of the title track...does this mean this tour will be VERY control heavy and unlike her last ones will actually include FULL versions of all the control singles. I think she should pair each Control hit with a new track from 20 Y.0. That would be hot. In fact, there are many songs she could sing either before or right after another track from 20 YO that would put the new album in better context for the live show:
Nasty/Show Me Lets Wait Awhile/With You Anytime Anyplace/Take Care I Get Lonely/Do it 2 Me Runaway/Daybreak/Escapade Together Again/Enjoy Pleasure Principle/Get it Out Me Thats the Way Love Goes/Love 2 Love I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Well, I've been a major Janatic since I was seven years old, and all I can say is...
Thoroughly disappointing. What the hell happened to Janet's classic performances? I thought the version of "So Excited" was absolutely terrible with that horrible rap overshadowing ANYTHING she was singing, the choreography wasn't nearly as tight as it is in the video, and I think she should've been wearing something else. And what was up with having "S.E.X." emblazoned across the giant screen? Not sexy at all. I was anticipating something a lot more from Janet. It seems like everytime she's been on television the last couple of years, I'm always thinking she's going to bring us back to what she can REALLY do, and it's been a letdown.

The Billboard performance was her best in a while but I would have rather seen her in her rehearsal clothes during the live telecast.

i actually really enjoyed the dance performance but i am in agreement with velvetroper about the awful rap that was dubbed over the song. why is she still courting a market that is NOT interested? and at the expense of her career? i don't get it.

Yeah but she is still fine and can dance her butt off for a woman in her 40s.

Yeah but she is still fine and can dance her butt off for a woman in her 40s. errr if someone can dance their ass off, write their own material, do a performance that gets a standing ovation and that gets people talking about her still after 20 years. That is talent in the words of Grace Jones "Janet is not a talker, shes a doer"

Yes, I am aware, but it was just a reason to have "S.E.X" on the screen and it wasn't creative, nor did it bring anything to the performance.

Because it's being shoved down everyone's throat. YOU WILL LISTEN TO IT!! YOU WILL ENJOY IT!! (most importantly) YOU WILL BUY IT!! OR YOU'RE LAME AND DON'T GET IT. Frankly, I can live with that...don't want it! I'm firmly planted in denial
