Recommend very dated, synth-heavy, sunny-sounding 80s pop songs

:::

Steve Winwood :: Valerie (1982)

I'M THE SAME BOY I USED TO BE.

I'm looking for some more 80s (or even late 70s) songs that have that slick, Moroder-esque/Solid Gold/heavily produced, electronic pop feel. The more synths the better[!].

Also it doesn't have to be a hit. I love rare album tracks, stuff that people think is "beyond cheese" -- all that... Please don't be shy!

...

Here's another example...

:::

Matthew Wilder :: Break My Stride (1983)

or

Go West :: Call Me (1985)
Men Without Hats :: The Safety Dance

...more stuff like that. I'm looking for stuff that's very poppy, even obscure, underappreciated album tracks.

This might be stretching it but I would suggest digging into Thomas Dolby's back catalog...

If you'd prefer a comp...

...this one's a goodie.

Very synthy and most of it very Euro-sounding.
Not everything's up and happy like Blinded Me With Science but it's all very good music.

The Aliens Ate My Buick album is more organic and the funkiest as he uses a full American band.

I'm sure you'd get into tunes like...

Radio Silence
Europa and The Pirate Twins
Commercial Breakup
One of Our Submarines
White City
Hyperactive!
Airhead
Hot Sauce
Budapest by Blimp
I Love You Goodbye
I Live in a Suitcase
That's Why People Fall in Love

It's got abysmal-sounding synths all over it, notably the wretched synth-bass. It rawks lol

It's as synthy as Valerie, which I took to be the level of synth-dom we were looking for.

Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode

before they got all deep, dark, and serious smile

Also, Gloria - Laura Branigan

LOADS of great, chipper, cheesy synths in that one. And she sang her tushie off, as well. Great song, one of my first singles that I bought w/ I was a kid. cool

Psychadelic Furs - Love My Way
Thompson Twins - In the Name of Love
Yaz - Situation

For some reason, this song gives me a naughty feeling inside. Hee hee. (probably because it reminds me of Prince)

I always thought that song sounded a bit sinister.

Speaking of Berlin, how about "No More Words"? Can't get more Moroder-esque than a song produced by Giorgio Moroder.

Actually have that song in my collection. But you're right on with what I'm looking for.

Surprisingly, that song I've never been too keen on. I'd take the Pointer Sister's "Automatic" and the entire "Break Out" album over the Footloose soundtrack.

But, moviewise, I wish the FAST FORWARD (1985) soundtrack was available on CD. Schitt, I'd buy a bootleg. smile
