Was that a Herb Ritts video? Seems like something sensual he would have been capable of.

It's a bit like 60s beefcake. shrug

Yes, he directed it. All his videos were good, but they all kinda looked the same. I remember his videos won both male and female VMA that year - Chris Isaak, Wicked Game and Janet, Love Will Never Do.

But yeah...that Wicked Game video. I was prayin' and a prayin' that I would make up with a messy head full of hair and sand so Chris Isaak would roll around with me and tell me how sexy I looked when I pout.

lol

I thought Madonna "Cherish" was the weakest of all those greyscale videos.

Before then, my older brother used to get them for me.
tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame
Love is a losing game

Well I started buying music a bit early because there was no money for an "extragant" thing like music in my house. Still I had friens that made tapes for me to listen in my walkman.

But my first real music purchase was when I went to Canada when I was 14. Those were the best holidays I had in my life. My moms family that lives there paid for my trip and I even had an allowance...best 3 months of my life.

So I bought my first 2 cassettes in my life that were:

Then I came back to Portugal, I had some money left and I used it to buy some more cassettes that were:

I can't remember my age, but I was buying a lot more 45's than albums. My allowance was pretty scant. I bought the Ebony & Ivory 45 when it was in radio play, then spent a few years blowing all my money on comics.

A few years later, I bought the 45's for:
Face The Face - Pete Townsend
Spies Like Us - Paul McCartney
Running Up that Hill - Kate Bush

...and after that, music became my main preoccupation. I'd received as gifts, a few albums along the way (Purple Rain - obviously, if you're keeping track of dates). I think I was all about the 45's because I worked in a Roller Rink...

bc
"I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs

I had two albums (the 'Grease' soundtrack and the Jacksons' 'Destiny') and a few 7" singles before 1983, but that was when I really started buying my own records. I was in eighth grade I think. It all started with 'Thriller'.
