ABBA, The Visitors; though Super Trouper is making a comeback. Of all ABBA's work, that album's probably dated the least. The only problem is "Our Last Summer" which I detest - 'and your name is Harry..' Like it wasn't before? God that song sucks.

Sorry a bit OT (spank me!!). Pandurito said to me via email (hey, he said I could reply here) OK, so English is not my mother language, neither ABBA's, so their songs always touched me first for the music.
In this case ['Our Last Summer'] I understand she remembers they were madly in love years ago. Now he's become a boring man leading a boring life. He´s no longer Mr Right, or Honey, or Darling or however she named him, but Harry ,as boring as a name can be. Well, this is just an interpretation. And that guitar solo is the best!!! Good point about the languages. For me the song just lacks the usual ABBA magic - it seems to me virtually anyone could have written it - very unusual for them. Ulvaeus seems to pack every Parisian cliche he can find into that lyric! I can even imagine Engelbert Humperdinck saying 'hell, that's too corny even for me!'. Personally, I would have ditched 'Last Summer' and put on 'Elaine' and especially 'Put On Your White Sombrero'. How could they leave 'White Sombrero' out? (especially as Frida just tears it up!). It should have been there between 'Lay All Your Love', and 'The Way Old Friends Do'. It seems perfectly to echo the "fights and words of violence" in 'Old Friends'. Anyway 'Last Summer' clearly touched you, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if I end up liking it. Just as well we aren't talking about 'The Piper'. We'd be here all night discussing that brilliant distillation of fascism!!
