Ciara - The Evolution I checked it out. The only track aside from Promise that I'm kinda feelin' so far is Make It Last Forever (no, its not a cover of the Keith Sweat song). It is riding the "It Takes Two" sample, though. Her hooks are kinda weak. I do like her lyrical directions. Of course her voice is weak but she does okay on "So Hard." There are quite a few up-tempo tracks on her CD. That's good. Unfortunately, they sound like fillers mostly. Here's a tracklist for you listheads:
Ciara:The Evolution 1) That's Right 2) Like A Boy 3) The Evolution Of Music (Interlude) 4) Promise 5) I Proceed 6) Can't Leave Em Alone 7) C.R.U.S.H 8) My Love 9) The Evolution Of Dance (Interlude) 10) Make It Last Forever 11) Bang It Up 12) Get Up 13) The Evolution Of Fashion (Interlude) 14) Get In, Fit In 15) The Evolution Of Ciara (Interlude) 16) So Hard 17) I'm Just Me 18) I Found Myself This record is not the record Janet should have done although "Promise" is still the song she should have had.

I really like That's Right except for the talking stuff at the beg. I also like:
Like A Boy Can't Leave 'Em (Sounds like a debut reject though) So Hard isn't bad. & I Found Myself is nice.

I haven't got the leak yet. It's on my Christmas list. I'll buy it if I don't get it as a gift, but yanno I wanna hear it now.

Yeah, it really isn't good. I mean I thought her debut was weak since it was basically the same song 12 times. Here she tries something different but shows she doesn't have what it takes.

Has it leaked?
People keep saying that Ciara is the new janet...something I don't get actually!

I saw an "Access Granted" about Ciara last night.
I think she is an excellent dancer and overall performer. I like her music and her videos. Plus, I think she seems like a very sweet girl?? It's so hard to tell nowadays. But I like her public persona. To me, she is very classy.. and acts her age. She's not overly sexy: she is appropriately sexy, ya know? I hope she doesn't ever change because there is something very refreshing about Ciara. But I still don't think her voice is that great. lol Well, it wasn't last night. I guess I'm just frustrated that Janet, one of my idols, is always criticized for being a poor vocalist. To me neither Ciara's nor Janet's voice is their strength to begin with: it's the overall quality of their music and their performance that is so appealing. I was really impressed with Ciara last night. Like I said, she is very "refreshing" and very real to me. I old enough to be her "cool" aunt or way older sister or something. (I don't think I'm quite old enough to be her mother!) In a way, she's is very unique for young women. She's not talking about being dirty or acting all dirty in an effort to grow up?? I hope she never changes-- or starts confusing taking off more and more clothes as being sexy. I don't know if that made much sense.

well,Janet's latest CD sounds like a Ciara album imo...the same type of predictable, midtempo R&B.Replace Janet's vocals with Ciara and nobody would know the difference.

I don't think you've even bothered to listen to Janet's new CD, because Ciara wouldn't be caught dead doing a song like "Enjoy", nor do I think she could even attempt the vocals. It would probably be very amusing to hear her attempt "Love Will Never Do (Without You)". Janet has a larger range and much smoother tone than Ciara. Ciara tries to go high on Promise and it's just excruciating. [Edited 11/29/06 6:54am]

Any one of them girls could've pulled off this cd soooo easily. "Damita Jo" & "All For You" >>>>> "20 YO". JD tried too hard to make Janet hip & youthful and it shows. Even her choreographer got her old ass doing the CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP!?! I couldn't believe it.... Oh, how the mighty have fallen. "With U" = WBT Pt.11, "Do It To Me" = Bow Wow "Let Me Hold You Down", "Call On Me" = Dillemma Pt.2, "So Excited" = JD "Gotta Getcha", "Show Me" = "Hollaback Girl" rip-off, and so on & so forth. Her voice is at its absolute weakest on this cd too. The songs are so DEAD, like alot of ya'll kept saying in the old threads.....the songs would be miiiiiles better if they had a good singer (or better interpreter) that can breathe life into alot of these unmemorable songs. There's a general lack of public interest in Janet Jackson today, that's why the cd is not selling. People lie, the media lie....but the numbers do not. Worst cd of the year. I agree with "SoulAlive" completely that this could pass for a Ciara, Cassie, Ashanti, etc album. Replace the vocals & there's no difference. Bullshit @ Ciara not attempting the vocals, like Janet is blowing cats out the water on that song. Janet's voice can barely make a flie move, it's so small, thin, wispy...no strength, no power, no volume, no range, no skill...everything like Ciara's. Only reason I ever liked Janet was because she ONCE had a vision & made some excellent music. Even though she was never a singer, at least her voice was clear & loud enough to understand and sing along. Now, I guess it would be more befitting to credit her producers & ghost-writer for that. So does When I Think of You, Love Will Never Do (Without You), Again, I Get Lonely and many other songs that I cannot envision Ciara singing - ever. LMAO @ Ciara singing Together Again. [b]I agree, especially after listening to this disk. I think its become clich'e to say Janet can't sing but actually she can. She's not a powerhouse vocalist but she's far better than Cassie and more experienced than Ciara. She's knows her voice well and knows what she can and can't do and what fits her. All of that is an important part of being a vocalist. Ciara has a way to go but she, at this point is Janet's heir to the pop R&B throne.

Anyone can sing better than Cassie, though But for real, Ciara does a lot of staccato notes - can she actually hold a note and transition to the next? Can she do more than one octave well (I don't count the "you, you, you", "do, do, do" parts of Promise as good singing)? I have not heard her do it. This is of course how they trained her since it's the type of singing that works for crunk, but it really isn't traditional singing in any sense. It is stylized talking. [Edited 11/29/06 10:29am]

is Janet fans that desperate to prove Janet can sing, that you compare Janet to Cassie who after having a hit in the Summer ,is basically about to be out the music business.
You make Janet look even weaker when you compare her to Cassie

Ok...it downloaded the album...listened to at least on minute of each song...here my reaction
It's a janet-like So it has some Lil' Jon songs.... So much weak songs! Make It Last Forever has a very know sample:-? I bet this album has somewhere a tainted love sample (just joking!) she even ends the album with ballads!!! only thing missing is the rain sounds!! ....maybe I'll...give...it...a try...again...somewhere...in...the...future! i dont know i think this Lp is crazy, Dope Boy or I Cant Leave You Alone the melody is catchy and her voice lights up on this track, it is still light but it is sweet and innocent, and doesnt want you to turn off the record.
Again as many of you should know range is the most overrated thing when it comes to being a vocalist.

This album is...not good. It's too all over the place.
Did anyone catch her perform "Promise" on Letterman last night? She was really trying but, she should never attempt some of those runs again. Like someone else mentioned, she just doesn't know her limits as a vocalist.
