'Beast of Burden'-The Rolling Stones I have alway thought that the guitar playing on this song is really wonderful and underrated simply because its not the kind of soloing that can be mentioned with the ones by Hendrix,Beck or Prince etc. because its very understated and you have to pay just a little more attention because it does not jump right out at you like many guitar solos do. Its just the way that Keith and Ron play off each other with thier guitar weaving(really the only time that this method of theirs was able to produce a beautiful sound) and Jagger's passionate vocal performance that makes the song a joy to listen to.
It will never be listed alongside the greatest guitar performances ever performed but its a lovely sound without a doubt.

Lovely song off the last genuinely great Stones album, like a late seventies "Wild Horses". And, as with that song, there's some debate as to who actually wrote it. Keith about Anita, Mick about Keith ....? There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

This song...
It's not particularly enlightened or anything but when I saw the Stones show in 2004 this song had me practically breaking out in tears. They were projecting into the stratosphere at that point, the highest moment of the show. I went trolling online afterwards and found several comments from people who had the same experience.

It's a fantastic song - their post post-exile track, I'd say, one of Mick's very best vocals, and further evidence that he's the greatest white blues/soul singer ever.

I wouldn't go so far as to call him that. He can't hold a candle to Rod Stewart in the vocal department, despite the fact that I think Rod's been mostly crap since 1974. And then there's Eric Burdon. And Elvis. But, let's not split hairs and lips. You may want to track down a Steel Wheels outtake of The Impressions' "For Your Precious Love", which has an incredible Jagger vocal on it. It's on a bootleg called "The Alternative Steel Wheels" - basically an early version of the Steel Wheels album, plus outtakes, which surfaced a couple of months ago - superb sound quality. IMO in terms of just Englishmen, Steve Winwood would cut 'em all a new one. And could still do it today! But the tune is one of Mick's best vocal performances. I've always felt that the Stones were at their strongest when it came to ballads. And this is definately one of their best. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
