Bette Midler - Do You Want To Dance? Yeah, Bette Midler was once sexy, at least on record. There. I said it. This song, from her first album, is lush and romantic and hit #17 on the Hot 100. A great slow reinvisioning of the uptempo Beach Boys hit. [Edited 11/28/06 17:29pm]

I love the Divine Ms. M
saw a segment on her on sunday morning, I remembered how much I love her voice, she has a christmas cd coming out. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

On the whole, I'm no Midler fan. I'm the anti-gay gay, I guess, but that first album is fantastic. Yes, that is a great take on that number. I like it quite a bit. I can't recall if he produced that particular track, but Barry Manilow did good work on that whole record. That awful Boogie Woogie Glory Hole song drives me nuts. Do You Wanna Dance, Friends, Daytime Hustler and her take on Superstar (probably my 2nd or 3rd fave version of it) make up for it. She's worked with Barry again in recent years, but it's flat and boring.
