By Chris De Burgh? That sounds more like a pop song to me. That's funny because it's in the very first post of that other 80s thread, the most romantic 80s songs ever or something. lol

Yeah it's more pop, though it could easily be R&B'd up.

I know it's a favorite of many, but I couldn't stand the insipid way he sings it.

It's just too much: "I have never felt the feeling of complete & utter love
feeling ill

Disteny & I Feel For You is the reason why she rebelled and made C.K..

WB didn't stop @ giving her a slap on the face when they made that "Remix" album behind her back and released it.

I thought that remix album was hot! My Chaka faves are in sharp contrast with everyone else's. neutral

nod

I know you, I live you
Slow Dancin
Clouds

I didnt know that WB made it w/out her concent, though.

First of all, anything, and I do mean ANYTHING by Shitney Ass Houston.

Also, anything by Anita Baker, Freddie Jackson, Babyface (solo), Mikki Howard, and any of the other boring ass adult contemporary type R&B balladeers I may have missed from 1985-1989.

These are also some individual bullshit songs I can think of for right now....

Superwoman - Karyn White
Just Got Paid - Johnny Kemp
I Wanna Be Rich - Calloway
Casanova - Levert
Don't Worry, Be Happy - Bobby McFarren
Don't Rock The Boat - Midnight Star
Ghostbusters - Ray Parker, Jr.
I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson
Headlines - Midnight Star
Who's Zoomin' Who - Aretha Franklin
K-I-S-S-I-N-G - Seidda Garrett ?

There are tons of them from 1985 to 1989. I just can't think of them right now because I have blocked a lot of that dull era out of mind for years. It was the beginning of the end.

lol lol Hell Naaaaaw!!!! Daayuum!! I like your sense of humor.

***"Love Of A Lifetime" by Chaka Khan (1986)---over the weekend, there was a Chaka Khan marathon on one of those VH-1 music channels. They showed the video for this horrible song disbelief One of her career low points, this is an over-synthesized mess of a song.A voice like Chaka's deserves better.

I used to have the 12". boxed

I can't believe so many of you are dissing Whitney's 80s hits.I like several songs by her:

"You Give Good Love"---a sparkling, soulful song
"Saving All My Love For You"
"Thinking About You" with Kashif---this is actually my favorite song from her debut album.

boxed

more crappy 80s R&B songs...

***"Thinking About Your Love" by Skipworth and Turner (1985)---annoying and repetitive

***"Struck By You" by Bar Kays (1989)---longtime fans of this great funk band couldn't have been happy with this awful,over-synthesized,drum-machined piece of crap.

***"Headlines" by Midnight Star (1986)---It was sad to see many funk/R&B bands jumping on the hip-hop bandwagon in the late 80s.

***"Rumours" by Timex Social Club (1986)---I can't stand the "attitude" of the lead singer. He wasn't even a big star when he recorded this, and yet he's acting like he's Michael Jackson or Prince, with the paparazzi constantly following him around, lol.

***"Electric Lady" by Con Funk Shun (1985)---stupid song

***"Have You Had Your Love Today" by The Ojays (1989)---The Ojays are one of my favorite vocal groups, but this song is garbage. In the late 80s,I felt really sorry for many of my favorite 70s acts, who were suddenly forced to adapt to changing trends.I bet that even the Ojays themselves hate this song.

***"My Girly" by Ready For The World (1988)---On this tune, they tried to jump on the New Jack Swing bandwagon.I liked them better when they ripping off Prince and the Minneapolis Sound, lol.

I LIKED MY GIRLY!!!!! lol lol
And, it's funny U say that u liked them when they were "ripping off" the MPLS sound. That may be true, BUT: Don't it seem funny that EVERYBODY in MPLS went "New Jack" after THEM????? AS Arsenio used 2 say, "Things that make you go...HMMMMM!!!"
lol lol lol

I remember hating "My Girly" back in 1988,but I still went out and bought the album ('Rough N Ready').I was expecting some killer jams, but it's a whack album. The first two RFTW albums are great, even though they borrow a little too heavily from Prince.
