Does Prince like Beck?

I think Beck is in peak form, doing things I wish Prince would do. Hes creating musical collages with his Mac and adding a video DVD with his music. Hes cuttting edge and still having alot of fun, not caring about sales, but hes selling and touring enough to ake a decent living I'm sure. Oh Prince please take note...

Hard to say. hmmm

I've never heard him mention Beck's name except that someone that got on stage to dance with him looked like Beck.

I dig Beck as well (I think he's a musically brave cat...)...And while I'm always down for a little healthy criticism, I think saying that Prince should take note from Beck is like saying Denzel Washington has a lot to learn from a top flight actor like Terrence Howard...It's not that serious...

Old school funk is superior to most modern music, and that's what I think!

Prince mentioned a conversation between Beck & D'Angelo, where they were commenting on what they'd like Prince to do.

Prince offered to be the opening act for them. I don't think he mentioned them by name, but it seemed clear at the time that he was talking about them.

He compared them to himself, when he questioned Stevie in his own mind regarding Ebony & Ivory.

Beverley Knight and Beck were also in attendance and were invited up on stage to dance during the final songs jam section. When Prince motioned for Beck to take the mic., Beck got embarressed and left the stage.

eek

I'd never heard that!

I think Prince would respect Beck, and Beck would respect Prince. They are both slightly off the mainstream. I mean, they have both had their mainstream successes, but their careers aren't necessarily defined by mainstream success.

I love Beck.

I love Prince.

Ooooo if they were together on the same ticket for any reason.. that would be amazing.

nod

both very innovative in their stylings, i would be VERY interested to see what they could come up with together.

of course, they might just butt heads and end up with a piece of shit music! lol

yes, there was some quote like they "forgot the days," meaning even if you don't dig the newest stuff doesn't mean the older stuff never happened.

The Stevie that wrote Superstition is still with us, as is the Prince that wrote Let's Work.

And if a 20 year old Prince had gotten onstage with Stevie at that time, Stevie would have mopped Prince from the stage with years of hits, just like Prince was saying he'd do to D'Angelo & Beck.
