The group lasted 3 albums. The 3th album was never release by their label.

Their first single "At Night I Pray" hit the Billboard charts in winter of 1996; a video directed by Marcus Nispel, known for his work with Janet Jackson, hit heavy rotation on MTV and VH-1. In 1997, Wild Orchid released their self-titled debut album Wild Orchid. The largely self-written album sold nearly a million units worldwide and included the singles "Talk to Me" (which was included in the hit movie Fools Rush In), "At Night I Pray," and "Supernatural." The album received two Billboard Award nominations for "Talk to Me," two Lady Of Soul/Soul Train Award nominations - one for Album of The Year by A Group, Band or Duo and one for Best Music Video for "Talk To Me," and an American Music Award nomination for Favorite R&B/Soul New Artist.

Wild Orchid was brilliant, but alas the Ferg has moved on 2 greener pastures. At least Stefanie and Renee contributed some lyrics 2 "The Dutchess" ("Losing My Ground" was an old WO track that never saw the light of day).

Wild Orchid deserves a better send off than the break-up they had after RCA Records drop them (without release their 3rd album that never saw a light of day).

The best reason would be so that BEP can try to redeem themselves just a microscopic amount after completely ruining their image/sound with her.

I used to think that it was Fergie's fault, but BEP's big switch came with their 2003 album and Fergie was added last minute to it.

The blame goes on Will.i.am nod

The best reason is so Fergie will no longer be solo.

Correct. Fergie's image made had help BEP chances for mainstream sucess, but will.i.am is still the band leader.....THE REAL leader. He's the one that make the tracks, not Fergie!
wink

Another thing, doesn't Kim Hill get some of the blame too? She had a fair chance to be a full-time member of BEP, but choose to quit her part-time status after the first 2 albums to focus on her own solo career. BTW, was her album ever release yet?

Agree. I like Fergie more as a team player than a solo artist.

i don't know if Kim would have gone with the direction BEP have taken. Those who knew them from way back no what I mean. They were rapping a whole different vibe.

Why should Kim be blamed when she wasn't the one that sold out? Am I missing something?

History could have been change if Kim would have stay with BEP for one more album as least.

Think about it: Will only hired Fergie to sing backing vocals and hooks (something that Kim Hill was doing). The idea of Fergie to have full-time status within the group was Jimmy Iovine's idea (BTW, Iovine is the founder/CEO of Interscope Records, also in charge of A&M Records). Iovine saw crossover potential for BEF with having a white woman in a multiracial hip-hop group that can be a great team player.

It's not Kim's fault that will.i.am is a fool and said "yes" to this gambit. He could have continued making real music without her. Instead, he chose Fuggie.
