Songs you love to hate

I felt inspired to make this thread after hearing some garbage on the radio for the zillionth time this morning at work... Although it's slighty better to listen to Top40 radio than that AC station that we had on in the store for many weeks until recently, those Top40 stations we have in Iceland don't rotate their playlist nearly enough for my tastes neutral

The first song on my list is Panic at The Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies". I think I first heard about this band when they aired the MTV USA VMAs over here in late August/early September.. I'm usually up-to-date with most recent pop/rock/indie/whatever stuff, but many of those formulaic American pop/rock "emo" bands just sound like one band to me so I tend to get confused with this stuff.... And the singer in this band just sounds like a million other singers in this genre, especially his annoying pronounciation: (Example: "Haven't you people ever huuuurd of.." but the single most annoying thing about the song isn't really the song itself but the annoying edit in the song probably designed to please some God-fearing hillbillies in the red states: "... closing the ---damn door" ... and the radio stations here are so lazy that they don't buy the actual CD but use the radio edit from some promo CD... I mean why can't that guy just say "closing the goddamn door" on the radio, goddammit! cartman lol

The second song is by some band called Razorlight... the song, "America", has really, really stupid lyrics that really don't make any sense.. anyway I'll just post the whole lyrics so y'all can make up your own mind:

What a drag it is
The shape i'm in
Well I go out somewhere
Then I come home again

I light a cigarette
'Cause I can't get no sleep
Theres nothing on the TV nothing on the radio
That means that much to me

Chorus
All my life
Watching America
All my life
There's panic in America
Oh Oh Oh, Oh
There's trouble in America
Oh Oh Oh, Oh

Yesterday was easy
Happiness came and went
I got the movie script
But I don't know what it meant

I light a cigarette
'Cause I can't get no sleep
Theres nothing on the TV nothing on the radio
That means that much to me
Theres nothing on the TV nothing on the radio
That I can believe in

(Chorus)

Yesterday was easy
Yes I got the news
When you get it straight, but stand up you just can't lose
Give you my confidence, all my faith in life

Dont stand me up
Don't let me down
I need you tonight
To hold me, say you'll be here
To hold me, say you'll be here
To hold me, say you'll be here
To hold..

All my life
Watching America
All my life
There's panic in America
Oh Oh Oh, Oh
She's just in America
Oh Oh Oh, Oh

Tell me how does it feel
Tell me how does it feel
Tell me how does it feel
Tell me how does it feel

That being said, I have to admit one thing: After seeing a certain female co-worker shaking her stuff to "Fergalicious" I've grown to appreciate that particular song..... I know it isn't like some masterpiece, but I like it better than those two songs I mentioned earlier.... There, I said it, I LIKE "Fergalicious" lol

When U mentioned that song, I immediately thought of this sketch about Jesus releasing his first solo CD called "In Betlehem there's partytime" (fast forward to 0:49 for the reference)biggrin : http://www.youtube.com/wa...NAKhIW_O8Q

top 40 radio is like some alternate reality to me. i don't exist there, even though i know i could cross into it whenever i choose, or other people (mainly co-workers) could shove me into that dimension whether i like it or not.

new mainstream bands are becoming more and more aggressively uninteresting. i think the stylists and promotional people for these bands are the REAL artists.

Oh man that Razorlight song is light years ahead of any Fergie song. shake barf

Although I never thought she'd be topped (Fergie) as the all-time worst, I have to say that Gwen Stefani is taking over that role lately. nod

Anything by Shitney Houston. Also, anything shit hop, shit hop sounding, shit hop related, shit hop style, or shit hop influenced. In other words, keep the shit.

Shitney and shit hop have much in common. They're both slow, boring, and rhythmless.

I use to respect the dance when it was only young sexy women doing it. But as soon as everyone's brother, boyfriend, grandparents, etc...., started dancing to this bullshyt, I really learn to hate the song!

For me, 2 songs by Nicelback- 'How You Remind Me' and 'Far Away'

Everyone talks about how awful this group is(and hearing 'Photograph' I understand why uhh!) and how overexposed they are, but I can't help but find those 2 songs by them to be somewhat enjoyable to listen to(in private is probably the best place I suppose).

I'm sick of it too. It just took the place of the Electric Slide that people were doing at every single party. People can really take something and just run it in the ground.

It suffered the same fate that disco did. When old folks get into it, it becomes "uncool" and people abandon it. I've been wishing old folks would get into shit hop for years. lol

Is that what that is? lol I've always heard that the Electric Slide was just the Hustle reborn, or was the Hustle actually the Bus Stop?

Not only do I hate this god-awful piece of waste, but after listening to it for 20 seconds, I had an urge to not only kill all 18 of the people who were singing on it, but also anyone who actually votes on this piece of shit to be on any chart. Guess what ya'll, this is why I'm hot...guess what dad, this is why I'm hot...ya know, this is why I'm hot....look fluffy, this is why I'm hot. mad

Bus Stop = Electric Slide

Slight different in tempo, but it's the same dance.
