Hendrix 'May This Be Love' This is probably my favorite gutiar solo on the 'Are You Experienced' album and I recentaly found out the reason why when reading a book which reviews Hendrix's songs indivdually. The author described Jimi's solos on this song as 'Hawaiian' and 'tropical' sounding. I cannot believe how I didn't realise how true this was until I read it and then going back to listen to the song it all just hit me so much. During Jimi's ending solo I can just vision being on a gorgeous tropical island and watchin the women dancing in their native Hawiian outfits with the mountains in the background and all the beautiful scenery that this solo provides.
Is this not often talked about song from Hendrix a favorite of anyone else for its wonderful atmosphere that Jimi coaxes out from his guitar? | |

Excellent pick! I've stated several times on here that "Are You Experienced?" is my favorite album by Jimi. And "May This Be Love" is a reason why. This song is super underrated. I never got a island vibe from it. But definately "water". it's a beautiful song. And for Jimi to achieve that "water" sound back then is mindblowing. This song shows just how innovative Hendrix was. It's a perfect song by a perfect artist. I think one of the best renditions I've ever heard is Meshell Ndegeocello's version off of Bitter. Magic. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way. | |

oh yeah definitely one of my ALL time favorite Jimi tunes as well. a beautiful track on EVERY level.
...and yeah like Bfunk said, Meshells cover of it is wonderful too. What i like is that she didn't just try to 'copy' Jimi's tune...(heck, it would be stupid for anyone to try to do that anyways)...no, Meshell put a different touch on it but still captured the magical dreamy feel... | |

Jimi wasn't from Seattle. He was from Venus. "May This Be Love" is gorgeous!
