Ice Cube's the only rapper I ever REALLY liked -- can't get enough of his music. I'm not much into his movies tho, besides his early ones. I think he's a great guy, has a great look and attitude, and puts together some killer beats. Amerikkka's Most Wanted is the essential album for those who want to know and don't know yet.
--- "U got jealous when I got my own company, but I'm a man, and ain't nobody helpin' me. Tryin' 2 sound like Amerikkka's Most? U could yell all day but u don't come close!" = Ice Cube to NWA in No Vaseline | |

His predator album from 1992 is one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. "It was a good day" is one of the best songs ever. His latest songs have all sucked except for an occasional masterpiece now and then. I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert | |

Cube is great from Amerikkka's Most Wanted through to Lethal Injection IMO. He could have kept the two War & Peace albums overall. | |

Ice Cube-one of the best west coast rapper. Amerikka's Most Wantedand Death Certificateare hip-hop masterpieces. Cube's a great lyricist and a great storyteller. He was like a west coast gangster version of Chuck D. He had anger, rage, ambition, intelligence and a strong stance. He's super brillant on songs like "Bird In Tha Hand" from Death Certificate. A lot of rapper/lyrcists now-a-days could learn a thing or two from Cube(O'Shea Jackson...his real name). Yes he did direct Prince's "Love Sign" video. If you look at the video real carefully, there's the scene with Prince sitting in the console chair in his studio and you can see him holding up an issue of VIBE magazine with Ice Cube on the cover of it. | |

Cube's early shit was tight...and obviously his work with NWA. I lost him with some of his most recent output though. That whole Westside Connection shit was terrible.
I still like alot of west coast rappers though...how about some Ras Kass, Exhibit, MC Eight... | |

CUBE'S EARLY WORK WAS A DEFINITE HIGHLIGHT FOR ME. HE GAVE NWA THAT KICK THAT THEY NEEDED AND THE SAME FOR EAZY E WHEN HE WROTE LYRICS FOR THE EAZY DUZ IT CD. IF YOU'RE CHECKING FOR ICE CUBE IN MY OPINION HIS FIRST 3 RELEASES WERE DEFINITE HIP HOP CLASSICS:
1. AMERIKKK'S MOST WANTED 2. KILL AT WILL (6 SONG EP) 3. DEATH CERTIFICATE | |

I will agree about Cube's early work being his best. He started to lose me when he did that wack ass "We Be Clubbin" but his skills started to diminish on Lethal Injection. I don't know if its an age thing or he lost his passion but I prefer Ice Cube 1988-1995 | |

what?? lethal injection is a masterpiece!! cube is one of the true kings of modern hip hop. yes, war & peace was basically another emancipation. you could delete half of each album and it would have been the shit. but it's all good. kill at will still gets heavy play in my decks, as does death certificate and lethal injection. come on! that eleven minute jam with george clinton? yes, yes i know the chorus and groove are an old funkadelic jam. just the fact that cube had the balls to put an eleven minute song on a rap album in the 90's, he gets my props.
