Nas - HIP HOP IS DEAD album cover

THe album cover just leaked, and I've seen two different versions. Both are looking good, and the title track is absolutely blazing.

Here's the two covers I've seen:

Can't wait for this album to drop.

I agree on the title track, can't wait for this album to drop. When is it suppose to come out?
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Nas should admit that he's part of the reason. He's had plenty tracks and full albums that contributed to the death of real hip hop. Which is sad considering Illmatic is one of the top ten hip hop albums of all time IMO.

Love the title track and heard Where Are They Now a few days ago and that was pretty good too.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I agree! After Illmatic and It Was Written, Nasty Nas went mainstream Diddy on us. Stillmatic saved his career from going completely nosedive alittle, but Illmatic is his career summit. So, the title to his new album is a big understatement!

We musnt forget one of the biggest contributors to it and that would be Jay Z. From his retiring to not retiring, to his work with R Kelly, Jay Z sold out a long time ago

Agreed. Hip hop started to die when ummmmm "the powers that be" saw
the potential to score big off of poor urban talent. They pimped and
pushed a lot of its artist into pipe dreams, brainwashed a lot of
its creators into selling their souls for the price of the almighty
dollar. Unfortunately many of its inventors sold their birthright
to this culture we created. It is time for the re-emergence of
true lyrical content which will motivate black people to a positive
conscience as opposed to this foul mouthed, loud talking, ignorant
bunch of b.s. that we've all been victimized to in the last 15 years.

Well this would remind of the whole "Hair Band/Metal" movement in the very early 80's. There were a few bands they had success and then once the "majors" saw the formula they went to the clubs and hired every band that had long hair and could sing a rocker and a ballad, since that was the formula, one power ballad make a quick million and that really was its demise, and really no one survived that time period, maybe Just Jovi and Crue. Which is exactly what is going on with Rap/Hip-Hop, there is this formula that has been used countless times, this generation has turned Hip/Hop into a parody instead of a voice. The % of rappers with something to say is clearly outnumbered by the rappers with cars and money and big booty girls in their videos. I saw a survey the other day that guys who like rap dont really care what they are saying in their videos, they watch them just to see what hot video girls they have gotten, very similar to the metal of the 80's, Big money,Hot girls,Drugs and Ego= Demise.

CORRECTION: The Dirty South gets ALL the credit/blame for the death blow of hip-hop. I'm from the South (Louisiana & Arkansas). I know better.

Also, the murder of 2pac took a lot of energy out of hip-hop too, IMO!
