Fav BASS LINES/TRACKS (let's discuss some awesome playing)? Over the last few weeks i've really come to love hearing great bass playing. A couple of years ago i would of been like the ignorant public and said 'he's just the bass player' but now i fucking love the bass.
Currently i'm feeling; Duff mckegan; Rocket queen, Sweet Child O' Mine J.P. Jones; Ramble on, whole lotta love, heartbreaker, dazed and confused, lemon song Prince; Party up, Head Noel redding; fire Hendrix; All along the watchtower I also saw a documentary on John Entwhistle and he was one of the greatest ever players who revolutionised bass playing(yes before Larry gayham). Apart from 'My generation' what tracks would you recommend for his best playing becuase i currently do not listen to the who at all.

For John Entwistle, I'd check out the "Live At Leeds" album by the Who. His playing is great throughout; really goes to support Townshend's contention that John was really the lead guitarist of the Who. Also the album Quadrophenia is probably the best Who studio album for showcasing john's bass particularly tracks like The Real Me and Doctor Jimmy. Oh, and here's a video from 2000 (two years before he died) from the Who's Royal albert hall performance http://www.youtube.com/wa...Vl39LBZGMw

Uh, there are soooo many. Too many to list, actually. But off the top of my skull;
"Today" from "Rerlease Yourself" 1974 - Larry Graham and GCS James Jamerson (who played on some of my father's stuff) Basically anything James played on is killin'. Same goes for Bootsy, Bernard Edwards and Stanley. Both Bootsy and Stanley, during the 70's, were basically Hendrix on bass. Especially Bootsy. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

My favorite bass line ever is "If You Want Me to Stay" by Sly & the Family Stone.
I'm sorry if it's already been mentioned, I hadn't seen it, but I didn't check very thoroughly. "You could say I'm a terminal case/You could burn up my clothes/Smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride"

We need to include tracks done by Mr. Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson, such as:
"I'll Be Good to You" "Strawberry Letter No. 23" "Ain't We Funkin' Now" "Get the Funk Outta Ma Face" "Stomp" And of course, his work on Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" I would introduce a song by Billy Ocean, "Love Zone." THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!
