That's right. Mediatakeout is the same site that reported NeYo would be coming out the closet in Essence a couple of months ago. I automatically disregard any report attributed to that site.

thank you. its nice to know that i'm not the only one that just goes off the bandwagon on information that could be false.

whats the big deal...ive called a woman a mutt, ive called a woman a bitch, ive called a woman a slut, ive called a woman a mother...these are all names, who cares? everyone is called something by someone. the term 'mutt' when it is used to describe someone of mixed race isnt used to refer them to a dog, its talking about how they are mixed. just as when you call a mixed person an oreo, or a white man a cracker, or whatever else, these are all names...get over it. if kanye had called mixed men mutts then that would be ok?
if you didnt blow up every little thing the man said then you would realize they arent as outrageous as you think

biggrin

I'm not overly offended by the term personally (I'm half Mexican, and also French, English, Native American, Swedish, and God knows what else lol ). I guess it depends on the person. I just think it's such a stupid topic to discuss in an interview. confused "There would be no video girls"? rolleyes lol Please.

Harlepolis

Roy Innis, National Chairman of CORE, is alarmed and concerned about a quote by Kanye West in the December 2006 issue of Essence Magazine. In the issue, West is quoted as saying, “If it wasn’t for race mixing there’d be no video girls. Me and most of our friends like mutts a lot. Yeah, in the hood they call ‘em mutts”.

Although Mr. Innis was struck by the reference to mixed-raced women as “mutts”, he was even more alarmed that Kanye’s statement might be an indication that Black America is slipping back into the self-contempt and self-hatred that he addressed in the l960’s and l970’s. This slide he attributes largely to rap and hip-hop cultures.

In a statement given on November 15, 2006. Mr. Innis states, “ I was one of the pioneers of the concept of Black is Beautiful. That we must be proud of our African ancestry. Unfortunately, the demon of self-depreciation has been the most difficult demon for Black Americans of all complexions to expell. Darker skinned Blacks like Kanye West have had an even harder time accepting Blackness in themselves and in others. I wonder how much we have gained psychologically, since the bad old days of the 60’s, in our appreciation of our Blackness”.

yeah but you know what's funny not only did he insult biracial women but as a dark skinned black woman i am offended that he says we'll basically never make it into the videos because we're not biracial or light enough. not that i want to be a video ho but it sucks that we're not considered attractive.

You REALLY need to come to a better comprehension of what racism is. You are trivializing the usage of the word. I'm not sure what a "dumdass" is.

IF Kanye actually said this, its just shows the success of the institutionalized bias that the media has instilled in people. The brainwashing is working. Its no secret that this was the standard "norm" thinking in the 60s, 70s and 80 and it wasn't really until the 90s that people of color started to outwardly reject that thinking process DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE MEDIA IS STILL PROMOTING STEREOTYPICAL IMAGES OF BLACK PEOPLE. Kanye may be colorstruck (has a preference for light-skinned women). Lots of black men are but aren't vocal about it. If you watch any amount of television, it should be of no surprise because the media's image of beauty in a black woman is a mixed woman. Case and point - Halle Berry. There are lots of universally beautiful darker and brown skinned women (Garcelle Bauvuis, Gabrielle Union, etc.) but the Halle types are what we are bombarded with. In music videos, television shows, movies and so on. Again, IF THIS IS TRUE its just Kanye inarticulately expressing what many people think and do in practice but aren't vocal about. I'm not condoning it; just calling it what it is.
"Mutt", "half-breed", "mixed-breed", "mullato", "high yella", "redbone", "yellowbone", "mello-yellow", and so on are all terms that have been used to describe mixed race or even just lighter-skinned black people and most of us have heard at least a few of them used at some point so its shouldn't be "shocking" but its slightly embarrassing when they are used bluntly.
So its safe to assume that Kanye likes the light chicks but I'll bet if an attractive dark-skinned sista approached him, he'd be saying "sexy chocolate", or "hot chocolate" just as quickly as he called mixed chicks "mutts".
In the context this was posted in, its obvious he didn't mean it offensively, so terms like "racist" which should be used VERY sparingly when referring to black people in general are just way off base.

Nope. I just don't condone the misuse of such a powerful term. Mainstream (meaning the middleclass white pop crowd) has somehow arrogantly become comfortable with throwing around the term "racist" like its candy. Racism is the systematic and institutional oppression of and discrimination against one people by another people. With the U.S. having the history that it has, racist should be one of the LAST words out of the benefactors of the oppressors' mouths yet it is so easily thrown around that it is sickening. There is a difference between "bias" and racism or even bigotry and racism. I can see how ignorance can lead to misusage; however, I see a lot of arrogance on the parts of many who so quickly call systematically oppressed people the term that befits that of their oppressors.

Kanye West does NOT speak for all black people dancerella. And being attracted to and marrying someone biracial or outside your race does'nt mean your discriminating against your own people. And it shouldn't make you feel any less proud to be who you are.

I agree that you can be black and proud and date outside of your race. I am one of them, however it seems that a lot of black men are forever going on about being proud yet they want light skinned women. Yes, I believe this to be mostly true.

i kinda get what your sayin' but not really lol being proud has nothing to do with preference of skin color-light skinned women are black to lol. its more of a learned mindset of what the standard of beauty is (european) in the US instead.
