it's so intresting to me that people who follows, or are fans of prince, compare him to michael jackson, but nobody who follows mike compares him to prince, or nobody cause they feel he is the best.....bottom line nobody dead, or living is bigger, than michael jackson., not prince or no one, nobody draws attention when he steps out in public, but what i'm saying is quit talking about michael jackson, there are those who claim they can't stand him, but yet their always watching, and are behind the door-in the closet mike freaks....can he sing?? this can't, or couldn't be asked by no brother, or sister, it's always those who really don't know, asking futile things like, can he sing, asking can he sing, is really like asking can prince sing ??? both of these brothers are super-bad, and they respect one anothers art, so why can't the follows of these two greats, become congruent...?? it's really like fighting over nothing, your mother says 5+2 is 7, well mine says that 4+3 is 7, they're both the same (great artistst), just like so many others!!!

peace,

listening is the highest form, of respect..

Indeed, no one has ever reached the commercial peaks of MJ...But to say that MJ fans don't compare Mike to Prince or any other artist is misleading...MJ fans often compare him to other artists (Elvis, The Beatles, Prince ect...)Not only that, hardcore MJ fans are usually quite clueless about the impact of said artists...I've heard statements of how MJ is the greatest songwriter of all time and that he puts the Beatles, Prince and Bob Dylan to shame..It's quite interesting...

It is interesting and usually, be it, if you are for Michael, The Beatles, Prince and Bob Dylan, everyone hopefully realizes, it is all a matter of opinion. That being said, Michael's (and Prince's to some degree) songs for me, mean a lot more than the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Madonna, and Presley rolled into one.

That is just my opinion. Because I have heard people who think the Beatles are the end all. biggrin

Obviously he was one of the great live singers of all time, but got so paranoid, now he either lipsynchs of shields his voice from having to sing, unless he does a record, which is never.

Prince seems to be going that way, avoiding live singing, when he goes on award shows, but doesn't perform.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

He's one of my favourite vocalists of all time, probably #1 or #2. I love the fact he can sing his butt off in any style of music he wants and his voice has emotions and sincereity in it that doesn't come naturally to everyone

As for his live singing, it's not as good as it was during the bad tour although it was a fair effort during the live part of the MSG concert with his brothers and it wasn't as bad as it was made out to be on the world music awards. I myself am a musician by hobby. I've had vocal training and done competitions in the past, but because I haven't sang in so long nor done my warm ups and am focusing on dancing right now, I think it's weakened a little bit and I struggle at times, and mj is no exception. I used to be able to do vibrato and go really high but it doesn't come that easily anymore like it used to cause I've been out of practice though I think it'll pick up someday if I start doing warmups again. It can happen to anybody.

oh and I love his voice on the tracks from ultimate collection: beautiful girl, the way you love me and we've had enough. Check those out.

this paranoia could have come from what happened in 1992. He was on the dangerous tour and began to have throat problems, something was growing on his vocal cords I think and he was told to be careful with it. This also explains how his live voice during the dangerous and history tours were different from the bad tour and before that. Those screams he did onstage didn't help matters either.

It´s interesting, but I´ve never compared the two of them. They´re just too original to be compared to anyone for me, really. They´re like oranges and apples as for the music, image, everything...
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
