Movie SCORES YOU FRIGGEN LOVE

You know I realized that I love several of the compositions in Star Wars, the opening song in Alien, and a few others.

But overall I love the fuck out of the E.T. (Extra Terrestrial) score. It's uber rad.

Are there any movie scores you love? I'm not speaking of actual classic tunes that were lifted and placed into movies, but tunes that were specifically written for a movie.

Soundtracks are easier, right now it's the About A Boy soundtrack by Badly Drawn Boy

Scores?

Batman
Lawrence of Arabia
Dr Zhivago
Star Wars
Purple Rain--love the drumbeats that accompany Morris' confrontation from the girl who gets thrown in the dumpster

I agree. I think the ET score is one of the best from start to finish. The original Superman, Star Wars Phantom Menace and the King and I scores are brilliant too.

Not to deviate from movies, but I have the Battlestar Gallatica (the new episodes) soundtrack and it is excellent. it's a different kind of space opera.

Any score by Max Steiner (3 Oscars, 26 nominations) -- Gone With the Wind, Now Voyager, Casablanca, King Kong, Dark Victory, The Big Sleep, Since You Went Away

Any score by Elmer Bernstein (1 Oscar, 14 nominations) -- To Kill a Mockingbird, The Magnificent Seven, The Ten Commandments, The Man with the Golden Arm, Trading Places, The Age of Innocence, Far From Heaven (his last film)

This is a find. Its UK rereleased eh? I have that film on dvd. Classic old school animation. I've read about this score and how it was hard to find but well well worth it.

HELLRAISER -I've always found the score to this film beautiful, even though the film is horrific, but the music gives it great depth.

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST -No matter what your personal beliefs are, you can't deny that this is an amazing musical score. I believe without it the film would have been totally unwatchable. The moments that move me are when Mary runs to Jesus, and the Crucifixion.

Anything by John Williiams.

Anything by Danny Elfman.

Yes, worth seeking out.I got my copy through Amazon UK. The original DVD was crap since you couldn't remove the subtitles. The filmaker , Rene Laloux, released some other animated short films after this and one of them is on the DVD as a bonus as well.Cool little film about a Chinese painter and his apprentice.

More of a soundtrack than a score. But few can match its power.
