DX7 ain't no sampler
i don't get it Prince used DX7 quite a bit from '84 through '85 prominently featured at the end of "She's Always In My Hair" and throughout many other songs, especially when performed live

One of the best tracks of the 80s and she remains as underappreciated as ever.

Neneh using a DX7 for every track within THIS 80's dance classic?!? BTW, Missy E. took a lot of ideas for Neneh, including the rapping/singing combo style.

One of the first rap songs I memorized every word to and performed regularly.

it's a shame she didn't have greater success after this song. She's a remarkably talented lady.Prince should have helped her out.

How would Prince have "helped her out"? His track record with artists that haven't come directly from his stable is limited, at best. Do you think he would've been able to not overwhelm her with the "Prince sound" and let her own uniqueness shine through? As much as I dig P, I just don't think that any artist with a strong sense of self will mesh well with him. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Loved that song. I was at my parents' house this summer, cleaning out some stuff from HS and found in my old tapes--Buffalo Stance cassette single. Awww yeah.
(And Prince's Gett Off, too. I forgot I had that.) The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I can't even answer that or demonstrate what a buffalo stance would look like. So does that mean you don't know either, or is it just hard to explain? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

How would Prince have "helped her out"? His track record with artists that haven't come directly from his stable is limited, at best. hell, aside from the Time and Sheila E (and to a lesser extent Vanity 6), his track record with artists INSIDE his stable is limited. there are some good albums in there, but none of them really set the world of popular music on fire.
