Said that he'd tap their phones and hire some people to track them down where ever they went. But Tammi Terrell had it rough the most with him(And David Ruffin too) she got some nasty mental, physical and verbal abuse from those men. These ain't hardly news though. Soul Brother #.1 was and still is notorious for his rough ways with women(and his band too). Damn near everybody who worked with him endured a love/hate relationship with him. [Edited 11/19/06 8:29am] I think Bootsy Collins had it THE worst when JB fined him for every mistake. The only problem with that kind of punishment was that Bootsy didn't give a damn. THIS bassist was musically loose by nature. Playing tight (JB's style) wasn't Bootsy's style full-time (despite that he knew how). But getting fired by JB was the best thing for Bootsy because by then, he was hired by George Clinton and the rest was still funk history regardless.

He suppoesdly dragged one of the Ikettes through her hair in some hotel's hall NAKED. Tina was like "Ike, you oughta be ashamed of yourself", TOO LATE for that sister There're uglier encounters. But my fave was when he shot @ those rednecks who were following his tourbus. The guy didn't give a nickle of a fuck.

Why do people continue to nag on the looks of black celebs? James Brown is OLD, how else is he supposed to look?

But to stay on topic, I can confirm that JB isn't doing good. He had prostate cancer surgery for the second time early this year, which is why he lost all that wait. He struggles with diabetis and arthritis to the point that at some shows of the recent tour he barely could walk and had to be taken off-stage in a wheelchair (that happened in Japan this spring).
However, the man is 73 years old and has been working hard all of his life, abusing his body with work and, in the later years, with drugs. Considering this type of abuse, he's doing better than one would expect.

Whats more brutal though, is they(his ex-band members) still have some affection for him after all the abuse they took from him. I don't know if its pussy control or hypontize, to this VERY day he put some deep fear into their asses. Duke Ellington manipulated his band with mind games, setting them up against each other to out-do each other on stage, but thats. He didn't care if their necks were on the railroad, as long as they're outta the stage/record session, he goes on his own way. But James took it waaaaay abroad,,,,he used ALL his power to control his band, in every aspect. Prince used a somewhat similar tactic,,,but unlike Prince, James was from the old school breed of black people; tough, unemotional and downright brutal.

Yes, it's true that many band members, especially the women like Lyn and Marva still have (or had, in Lyn's case) love for him. It's a love/hate relationship, and especially Marva doesn't make a secret of it. I recommend you read her autobiography which will be released in 2007, which really shows a very deep and honest, yet respectful insight into her relationship with Brown. And what you say is true, up to this day Marva believes that Brown had and still has her phone wired. There is other people, however, who hate him to this day. His Funky Drummers Clyde Stubblefield and Jab'o Starks, have no respect for him on any level, musically nor on the human side. One of the main explainations I have for Brown's mistreatment of women is the fact that his mother left him and his father when he was very little, so he grew up feeling that women cannot be trusted and don't deserve to be treated respectfully. Scum was always called "Scum" and never spelt differently. Scum was written by Roy Minton and directed by Alan Clarke as a BBC tv play in 1977. Personal? I don't know ted bundy personally but he's still a piece of shit so is JB get over it. I work in music myself and i read alot of info and obtain alot of info so i can post comments based on this and see if anybody else is aware. If it offends you that i find artists who abuse others the lowest of the low then it speaks volumes for you and not me. I'm sickened by any injustice and abuse; it really bothers me so i apologise for this i cannot help it. I never originally refered to the stupid movie. Come to manchester and see what real skum is! Many people would spell skum here with a k. It;s hardly important.
