Ex-Publicist Accuses James Brown Of Rape Woman Asks Court To Hear Sexual Harassment Case
POSTED: 9:34 am CST November 16, 2006 COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A woman who claims soul singer James Brown raped her is asking the South Carolina Supreme Court to hear her sexual harassment lawsuit, which a lower court ruled this year she had waited too long to file. Jacque Hollander has argued that the state's two-year statute of limitations in such cases does not provide equal protection to women. In her lawsuit, Hollander said Brown raped her at gunpoint in 1988 while she was working as his publicist. She seeks $106 million in damages. Hollander said she sued Brown after she developed a thyroid condition in 2000 that doctors told her was caused by the stress of the alleged assault. She said the statute of limitations also shouldn't apply because the condition wasn't diagnosed for 12 years. Brown's attorney, Debra Opri, called Hollander's request for the Supreme Court to hear the case "a pipe dream." Hollander's lawyer, Donald Rosen, said the appeal is likely her final legal option. A federal appeals court tossed out Hollander's lawsuit in August. oh oh!!

How do you know that? I do hope you're right, and I would be shocked beyond belief if this was true about James. But all too often women are vilified as lying bitches when they report being sexually assaulted and raped (happened to me; my own family called me a liar). Don't be so quick to assume you know the truth about people you've never even met. The Normal Whores Club

If she was really assaulted, she'd've known that within the two year statute of limitations. Right? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
