That vibe is not there anymore. I remember when I was very young watching the Destiny concert at Wembley Arena on Television, it was exciting and I wanted to be there. Years later I went to see the Bad tour which was great, MJ was still singing live back then, but as great as it was I just felt there was something missing. Some years after that I saw the Dangerous tour on TV and when watching it I felt I had seen it 100 times before,even though I was much more of a fan then, than now. The energy vibe was virtually non existence; lots of technical dancing, fans screaming and fire works but not much else. I felt empty watching it. Yet I can watch Youtube all day just to see live J5/Jackson concerts be it the J5 singing Wannbe where You are live, to the 1975 concert in Mexic to the Destiny concerts in 78. The energy and vibe in these concerts are completely different from his solo concerts which are more like over long, promo videos as opposed to live shows. [Edited 11/16/06 13:16pm] | |

Yet more proof of why he lip syncs 99% of the time. When the mic is turned on it always sounds like this like total crap! Listen to him at the American Music Awards in 1988, he turned his mic on & it sounded like shit. Listen to him doing "Human Nature" in the Dangerous tour which is on VH1 allot. He sounded like total shit. Face it you dont lip sync basically all the time if your not trying to hide something! The something is He Cant Sing! He is at best a studio musician. He needs to do 50 takes for each verse, if anything sounds decent, they keep it & then (copy & paste) from that point forward. When you listen back it sounds like he did it all in one take! WE all know Recording Business now, it isnt some amazing process anymore to the public. But they have been doing this forever. So has Michael.

[Edited 11/16/06 14:44pm] I'll agree that MJ's vocals have been really off for a while on the concert stage...But to say that dude is a studio creation is one of the most absurd things I've ever read online in a while...I saw the dude in Chicago during the Triumph tour...His voice was on point...The man can sing...His problem is over the past 10 years he's lost it...You can still hear the past greatness in such songs as "Butterflies"...But for the most part, his voice is shot.... But to tag on this revisionist history on the man is silly...MJ is a lot of things...But he aint no studio produced act, that's for sure... | |

[Edited 11/16/06 14:50pm] One of the reason I prefer MJ to Prince back in the day, is quite frankly I always felt that Prince had an awful voice. Imo back in the day MJ had a great voice. The reason why I believe his voice has deterioriated over the year is because he virtually doesn't utilize it well. He has also in the past allowed the dancing to take over the singing; so where before he was know as a singer, that just happened to be a good dancer. In the latter yrs he became a dancer who wasn't a bad singer. If you look at earlier concerts with the Jacksons, the dance is important but never has important as the singing. Over the years he has lost the distinction and now with age catching up he obviously can't dance as well, but because of lack of live singing he can't seem to sing as well either. | |

Just thought I'd clear that up. Yes, I saw a show on this recently that took place somewhere in Africa, I think. Many dark skinned women were buying these bleaching agents because they thought they were too dark, and wouldn't ever be able to find a husband with their dark skin. But the bleaching agents had terrible chemicals in them, that were ending up disfiguring their faces. Some groups over there are trying to create public awareness about their dangers and trying to tell women that dark skin is as beautiful as light skin. My 9 year old daughter saw the Billie Jean video the other day, and said, "That's Michael Jackson?????" She had no idea he was black. | |
