Hootie and the Blowfish...Better than the Beatles?

I am so over my Wham! phase. Now I have decided that, as great as Wham! was, there is a group out there that has had even more impact on my life, as well as on the lives of all of us, historically and musically speaking. I am talking about Columbia, SC's own Hootie and the Blowfish.

Laugh all you want, scoff if you will, but damn it, name a band that is better at southern fried rock than the Blowfish. Name a group who has delivered more insightful lyrics, who has changed the fabric of scoiety as we know it. Sure there were the Beatles but, you know really, besides 8 or 10 really good albums, what the hell did they do? Did they make your toes tap? Did they have three back to back Top 10 hits as revolutionary as "Hold My Hand", "Let Her Cry", and "Only Wann Be With You". Hell no.

You can have Paul McCartney. I'll take my main man Dean Felber. And Ringo has got nothing on Soni Sonnenfeld. And make me laugh by comparing John Lennon with Hootie.

Hootie Rules!

All good things they say never last...

Okay I will...Lynard Skynard!!! They were and in still to some degree a better southern rock band than Hootie. Hootie, was a band with good intentions until, their overexposure killed them. That thing about them being better than the Beatles....No. You cannot compare "Hold My Nuts"....Opps I meant....hand to "I wanna hold your hand. As campish as I wanna...was, it was still a better song.

I don't remember the Beatles or Dylan getting any deal with Burger King, so yeah, Hootie is probably better.

So, just because you get a deal to sell burgers, this means that u are better? To me, it means that u are a sellout. If u are selling burgers, then u should not be doing music.

the Beatles could never get Hootie to even associate with them, so obviously the Blowfish are a leg up in that department nod

I've heard the song, but what's ur point? They should be just doing music...not pushing burgers.

nod The Beatles sold more crap than anyone! They even opened a new age store in London. Therefore, Hootie's music is much better. It's simple arithmetic.

I'm only kidding shorttrini!

and while george harrison diddled away his talent hanging out with ravi shankar (kinda the larry to george's prince), i'm pretty sure hootie and the blowfish has jammed extensively with dave matthews. NO CONTEST, really.

I've got a party planned for 2015 when Hootie is inevitably elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Who's with me?

I believe Ross, Chandler & Monica were so moved by Hootie that they allowed the music to cause a rift between them and Rachel, Phoebe & Joey
