"I'll Be Good to You" "Strawberry Letter No. 23" "Ain't We Funkin' Now" "Get the Funk Outta Ma Face" "Stomp" And of course, his work on Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" I would introduce a song by Billy Ocean, "Love Zone." I'm sorry if it's already been mentioned, I hadn't seen it, but I didn't check very thoroughly. I mentioned it a couple of posts back Definitely a great bassline for me this is always the first song that springs to mind in threads like this Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Check my site on youtube -> stone14 for a great version from the song. Larry left the band before they recorded Fresh Actually Larry was the one that informed people that Sly played bass on that, he was asked once and he said "that was sly on if you want me to stay, he was a great bass player". Oh, and Larry actually does play on two cuts off Fresh that were already in the Can before the recording sessions began: Que sera sera and If It were left up to me. As far as I know, every bass part on Fresh except those two and the ones Rusty Allen says he played on (In Time, Keep On dancing, let me have it all) are Sly. [Edited 11/15/06 4:53am]

[Edited 11/15/06 4:53am] Yes, he did say that, because it's an interview. On stage with his own band/ with Prince and on the bass lessons dvd he is acting like he wrote Sly's stuff. I have a clip from Larry and he is acting like he played bass on If You Want Me To Stay. Sly wrote at least 90% of the music and the rest of the group 'filled'the rest with their own talent.

The Entire What's Going On? album-James Jamerson
The Entire Parade, and SOTT albums-Prince Dead Nigga Blvd. Pt. 1--Meshell Ndegeocello Return of the Space Cowboy--Don't know the bassists name, Stuart Zender didn't play on the track. Be My Beach--I know Cordell Boggie Mosson is credited with playing on the album, but that bass sounds like Bootsy to me.

Rick had the Rickenbacker more for show than for playing. Sure he knows how to play bass and came up with some stuff but Oscar Allston plays bass on his records. Besides, the Super Freak bassline was played on a MusicMan (Allston plays a MusicMan) and not a Rickenbacker.
