Corrin Bailey Rae looks like she could gold or platinum without craking the top 20.
Christina Aguilera is the unsung flop of the year, she had a double album so she's been registering double sales and she still hasn't gone gold, imagine she released a single cd. eek , her ego needed this

Certification is based on how CDs shipped, so she's sold at least 250K, right? I have a hard time believing she hasn't sold at least 500K!

Christinas soundscan numbers count as 1 unit not 2, the RIAA when it certifies decides if it will double it for certification, but since the CD is under 80 minutes its still technically not a double, so the RIAA may not double it. But soundscan has nothing to do with the RIAA, two different animals.

You know what expalins both those artists....Your mama...cause she is buying those CDs. It seems like after a slight up swing in 2004, record sales are so low, the only things making an impact are the Cds mom's are buying!

Its true, a few weeks ago Bill Maher said this to the president of the VIRGIN company when he said Tower is going out of business, he said to him "You guys could be next, because we all know Kids dont buy music, they steal it" .

Of course we don't buy cds! It's not our fault. It's the record industry. They need to stop making albums with all these fillers on it. Like the only good songs are the singles and sometimes not even that. I'm not paying for that! & they are the ones that care about making the hit singles and then they don't leave any attention to making an album that's good as a whole. Eff that. I'm not paying for it.

Christina 'Back To Basics'has SOLD (not shipped) 907,190 as of today. This is not a doubled figure..the cd has sold this much physically..but the certification will show her at well over 2 million because it's a double album...

Corrine Bailey Rae has been the silent hit record as it has never left the Top 75 since it's come out and has sold 502,632 to date and has shipped well over 750,000...Best New Artist anyone? I love this record!!!

peace

Christina is not flopping. Look at RHCP's sales. That was a double album as well. They sold a little over 1.4 mill and they've been out since May. She could be doing better but she certainly isn't a flop. Neither RHCP or Christina will be huge sellers.

They're consistant which I think is key...those records that queitly sell every week...and last on the charts for a long time...so many records debut big and fall off the earth these days!

That's not bad considering it's still a fairly new album. I don't know what it sounds like but I would assume the key to selling it are the uptempo songs. That Corrine Bailey Rae album is OK (the single is awesome). I believe she has a huge chance at Best new artist....at lest a nod.

This is a good argument, but in the end the only reason music is being stolen is because no one wants to pay for it and the technology is set up and it is easy to steal, plain and simple. Had Vinyl still been the way of the world or even Cd's and nothing digital and the net and all that then there would be no way to steal it, who the hell was bootlegging vinyl back in the day. Also the debate of not wanting to pay because the music sucks is a good point but, wheres my refund for the shitty Vinyl crap i bought way back that had tons of filler on it. The industry is the way it is, and the talent is the way it is because its a reflection of the public.

Christina's doing alright, I think. It's selling slowly but surely, and once 'Hurt' reaches it's peak, itll sell better.

Justin's still in the top ten, which is amazing considering the industry these days. Helps that he had a consistantly good album.

Beyonce's also seeing some improvement, as her new single is getting alot more steam than that Ring The Alarm bullshit
